Cape May or POP?

My family (DH, DD5, DD7 and me) will be staying at POP for a few days in November; we've purchased the DDP. For our arrival night, we were looking for a place to eat without going to the parks or venturing too far from the hotel. Our TA recommended the buffet at Cape May but neither my husband nor I are big clam eaters. What would you recommend—eating at Cape May or just staying at POP for dinner? Is there is another place close to POP that you would suggest?

Will you have your own car, or are you going to rely on Disney transporation?

If you have your own car, Cape May should be OK.

If you're using Disney transportation, I'd most likely eat at Pop or pick a place on the monorail line (bus to MK, then monorail). The monorail ride is fun for an arrival night.

If you're not big on seafood, how about a character meal for the kids on their first night at Disney? Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare might be fun. 'Ohana (no characters) is also a fun place to kick off a trip. You could either drive or do the monorail to these places.

There's nothing wrong with Cape May (I haven't been there yet) and there are plenty of non-seafood options, but with kids I'd probably lean toward a meal with characters if possible. JMHO. : )

OR--weather permitting, eat at Pop and enjoy the Hippy Dippy pool.

I ate at Cape May in Sept and I'd say skip it! The food was not that great and I can think of much better ways to use that table service credit. I'd stay at POP amd just save the TS credit for a character breakfast or dinner . Good Luck!

Too far from your hotel? With a car you can get anywhere in WDW in 15 minutes. I certainly wouldn't eat at Pop Century unless you want to save your TS credits for a signature meal or you would really like to try a character breakfast.

We enjoy Cape May and there is plenty to eat without clams. If you are willing to drive a few extra minutes, I would recommend Boma. It is our favourite buffet at WDW.

I'd go to Down Town Disney and go to T-Rex or Rain Forest Cafe or head to the Boardwalk and go to ESPN Club or Spoodels the have ice cream on the Boardwalk and watch all the things going on at the boardwalk.

Have you thought about going to Downtown Disney on your first night? You could drive or take the bus. There are quite a few places to have dinner - Raglan Road, Rainforest Cafe, Planet Hollywood, House of Blues to name a few and the new T-Rex restaurant will be opening in October. Lots of shops to browse as well.

The question about the car is not really about distance. There is no direct Disney transportation from one resort to another. You have to go to a park or DTD first and then change for a bus/boat to the other hotel.

If you have a car, you have many great TS options for dinner at other resorts.

1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian might be a great way to start your vacation with a character meal -- Cinderella, Prince Charming, Stepmother and stepsisters.

Spoodles on the Boardwalk or Cape May are also great choices. Cape May has much more than seafood. We are vegetarians and enjoy both of these restaurants.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge is also lots of fun. The lobby of the WL is worth the trip!

Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge is always highly recommended and it would give you an opportunity to see another beautiful resort.

But if you don't have a car, you may want to stick with something at DTD.
