I will be visiting WDW in late September with my family (no kids), but would like to do a character meal for breakfast during the trip. We will be staying at the Swan and while I know that Chef Mickey's is a hike from there, is it worth the early ride over there or is it basically the same as at the Beach Club at Cape May Cafe?

Any recommendations for a character breakfast are helpful.

Thanks!

Cape May is much more convenient, and usually not as jam-packed as Chef Mickey's. IMO the food is pretty much the same. So I'd go with Cape May if you are staying at the Swan.

I've done both breakfasts and would suggest Cape May if you want something a little quieter and not as crowded. The food was good at both.

Last April one of our PS dining was Cape may cafe but it was for dinner so this might not even be related to your question. Anyway, between Chef Mickey and Cape May Cafe I would do Chef Mickey over the Cape May Cafe, The only thing I enjoyed at Cape May Cafe was the dessert bar (Flan and the Short cake), the clams always ran out the chicken has that chickenie smell like it need to be cooked longer, had a hard time getting refills with drinks the soup container was empty from the time we came in to halfway our meal. And I don't think it was that busy since there was alot of empty tables. The only fast service I got was when I was ready to sign the bill :sad2: I never had any complain in the past as a matter of fact I can put a number to each and everyone of them and this would be complain #4 from trip 1991 to present.. Prior to 91 never bothered... it was the parents who are paying for the trip I just tag along

We stay at the Swan a lot & love the character breakfast at Cape May. IMHO, I think (flame me if you'd like) Chef Mickey's is over rated! It's more expensive & food is not nearly as good as Cape May and quite frankly I think the character interaction is MUCH better at Cape May. There may be a few more characters at Chef Mickey's but I always feel so rushed there and it's always so crazy. And, it's more expensive there for breakfast. So all of that being said...I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Chef Mickey's.

For the same amount of time you get to spend with the characters at Chef Mickey's we catch Pluto, Donald and Mickey at Epcot most of the time from the Characters on Holiday bus.

Yes, ditto for me! ::yes:: Well said jwfla422!

Yes, Cape May would be more convenient but I prefer Chef Mickey's myself.

I know that Chef Mickey's can be loud but it's part of the fun. It's the atmosphere too AND MICKEY's there. Mickey is not at Cape May.

I also love the photo they take at Chef Mickey's and it's become a tradition to eat there and buy the picture package as well.

I also like it's closeness to MK.

If I've never tried either, I'd go to Chef Mickey's. If I'd like to see Mickey, I'd go to Chef Mickey's. If I'd like the photo package, I'd go to Chef Mickey's.

If I've already eaten at Chef Mickey's and wanted to try something new and wanted quite, convenience, don't care about Mickey or the photo package or the closeness to MK, then I'd eat at Cape May.

Actually do they do the photo package at breakfast? I haven't had breakfast there in a LONG time. I know they do it for dinner though and it's one of the best photo deals going at WDW.

Yes they do the photo pkg. at breakfast, we did it last year.

I still think CM is way over hyped and personally I wouldn't go there again. A short review for our family was: bad service, bad table location, shaky character interaction, fair food. Just didn't add up for us.

To each her own! :)

I prefer Chef Mickey's... I like the atmosphere better, but because the food is basically all the same, if you are staying at the S/D Hotels, you should just go to Cape May.

For adults only I would definately go with Cape May. It is more convienent to where you are staying, the whole restaurant is quieter and in Jan Cape May had better food than Chef Mickey's. Actually everything was better at Cape May, especially the characters. We (my mom and I) were almost totally ignored at Chef Mickeys, but the characters at Cape May were extremely nice. Not that i wanted much character interaction because if it is a choice between myself and a child, I would always defer to a child. However it does not take a tremendous amount of time to wave stop and wave hello! The only thing that Chef Mickeys has that Cape May doesn't is Mickey himself. I will say that an adult only trip was very different from a trip with my niece and nephew.

DS13 & I will be doing both for brkfsts in Aug
DS wants to return to Chef Mickey's. We usually have dinner here on our arrival day. We'll be going for our first full day brkfst this time.
When we change from VWL to BCV we'll start w/brkfst at Cape May. We last ate here in 1996 when DS was 4.

I much prefer Cape May...plus it's so convenient for you.....
