Not recently, but definitely more recent than 6 years!! :) It is a 'must do' for us once, sometimes twice each trip. We have loved it for many years and haven't seen any decrease in quality as of last Spring. There will always be those that find fault for various reasons, but the food is always yummy to us - including the crab legs - not dry, nor small, and always hot.

We haven't been in a year but our last experience was terrible. Worst service we have ever had - our server came exactly one time to take our drink order, 20 minutes after we sat down. Several dishes were not good that night and CM had been one of our favorites for years. We are giving it one more try on our next trip this summer.

Like any restaurant you’ll get a slew of mixed opinions. I had what I consider to be one of the top servers I’ve ever had at Disney at Cape May, last May. She was amazing. A short lady in her 70s. She made sure you had everything you needed. Made sure we knew all of the items, like juices, that are included with the buffet. Made sure the characters met with us ina timely fashion. And even made sure our photos with them were good. We only do breakfast there, but I think their breakfast offerings are a step above Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace.

Average breakfast buffet and typical less than average quality buffet food at dinner other than average quality crab legs. I'll admit, I am not a buffet fan and am more about quality rather than quantity. For me, mass-produced food sitting at food stations is not my thing. If you're a buffet fan then I'm sure you will enjoy.

Every time we've been there they are constantly replacing dishes with fresh hot ones - so not 'sitting' there for long.
Also, the crab legs (other steamed dishes) are constantly steamed fresh and hot before your eyes. They are gone so quickly - sitting there, what, 3 minutes??? We've never waited for hot ones longer than a couple minutes - a continual process..

Not liking buffets? Your prerogative! We love it, and always make ressies for opening.

SAME!!! Its the freshest buffet we have done at WDW.

We went a few years ago and won't go back--only the crab legs were close to good and even those were mostly small and cold. The rest of the food was really poor quality.

Good to hear regarding crab legs which are the sole reason for the reservation. My teens and hubby are obsessed with them!

We were there a couple of months ago for dinner. Crab legs- YUM!! There was a good variety and always kept fresh! Cape May is a family favorite!

We had dinner there in February for the first time and probably won't go back. I don't care for crab but went because the other 5 adults in our party love crab and wanted to try it out. They all enjoyed the crab but we all agreed that the rest of the offerings really weren't too good. I don't know if it was an off night or because we had a later reservation (8pm) but literally all the offerings besides crab were cold- ribs, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, pasta, meatballs- all were cold.

We had breakfast there Sunday. Last time we ate there was 4 years ago. Other than waiting 25 minutes for our table, which I was warned of when we checked in, our experience was good. Server nice, offered to take pics a time or two, drink refills quick, removed plates. I though the buffet was a little less than before. They had changed the eggs with goat cheese and it was not quite as delicious, but that could have been that day or the fact I got a LOT of mushrooms and peppers in my serving (not a fan). Cold meats and salmon are delicious. Kids ate their fill of Mickey waffles.

I'm not going to bash you (and I don't think you are toward me), you enjoy buffets and in your own words, "Your prerogative," I don't. Variety is what makes the world go round. I like my food individually prepared and not in mass quantities such as buffets are prepared. I did not mention the food was not hot or fresh, I mentioned my thoughts on the quality, which is opinion like saying it's good. I also stated that is is mass produced and still brought out in stations, never saying or eluding that it sat for long periods of time. But with that said, it is sitting at a station (even if for short periods) for people to gather and hover over to scoop up. Again, I just want to clarify what I stated nor eluding to anything else. With that said, I respect your opinion on Cape May and have agreed with many you have made over the years and some I don't agree with. :goodvibes

I should say that I do enjoy Boma and Tusker House. So there are a few buffets I enjoy.

@goofy4prez, guess I was more focused on the seafood being steamed fresh before you, not sitting there for long periods. Ano. poster mentioned dishes being cold, not you, sorry. They check temps constantly so more apt cold on plates before eating, not in the dish itself. There is a very strict law on buffet temps.

We do not usually go to buffets except right at opening as I said in above post, we've seen what they can look like later. We're all of different minds, no worries!

I find that opinions on Cape May is dependent on whether you have access to good seafood at home. Folks that do tend to be very down on Cape May. I can’t get crab legs easily at home so this is one of my Must restaurants. But where I live has awesome Mexican and German restaurants. So I am not impressed with San Angel or Biergarten.

I ate there last Dec. as my holiday dinner while resort hopping to view Christmas decorations. I always love the desserts, in fact, start there, if there's any stomach space left get an entrée.

Loved boating over from HS, this turned out to be my fav holiday display, and was a good meal (loved the soup).

The only downside was the guest sitting at the next table over, her conversation :chat: was ruining my experience :(, I changed seats & considered changing tables :sad2:.
