I just changed an adr from Teppan Edo to Cape May. Who's been there and how is it? DH loves clams and mussels me not so much.

I would love to know that as well. I too booked it for my trip in December for my parents (b/c it sounded great to my mom) and hubby LOVEEEEES any and all sea food...

We went to Cape May Cafe last Wednesday night and loved it!!! The clams and mussels were terrific as was the corn on the cob, the chowders and the salads! We've done Cape May a few times in the past but skipped it last year because we felt it wasn't that good anymore. However, last week they redeemed themselves - it was a great meal. For the non-seafood lovers there were great salad, a carving station, ribs, sausage and peppers and a pasta offering along with sides.

I think you'll like it and I know your husband definitely will!

we went last year. It was disappointing. The food was "meh."

YUCk but that is coming from someone who lives in Boston. the clams, mussels and shrimp were al farm raised and they were so gross. I hardly ate, I would never go back there again :scared1:

Totally agree!! Cape May is a must do on each of our WDW vacations for DH & I. We absolutely love it. Living on the East Coast of Florida we have alot of fresh seafood and the food was comparable to any that we can get in our local restaurants who are supplied by local fishermen. The best part for me was the desserts. Some of them are to die for..............LOL :goodvibes Give it a try - I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.

We have been to Cape May a few times and like it a lot. We aren't big clams and mussles eaters (my dh says it is too much work and I am not a fish eater) but the buffet was awesome anyway. Enjoy

and it was very disappointing. Clams and butter were very cold.. the clam chowder was great though. Most of the other food you can find elsewhere.

i love cape mays but it is kinda pricey! i have never had any seafood however, but what i had (pasta, salads etc) was very very good.

My favorite part of Cape May is the desserts!!! It's a small out-of-the-way alcove full of wonderful treats and small enough you can make a sampler platter out of them. My next trip I'm starting with dessert and will eat seafood if there's any space left in my belly.popcorn::

I am from Boston too and we have killer seafood up there so dont go to Cape May expecting similar. We have been to Cape May 4 times and have loved it and just liked it on those times. DH loves the clams, I love the talapia and other food food items (non seafood). The only thing is dont go right when they open as the food has been sitting out for some time and is cold and dried out. We sat in the benches that overlook the buffet 30 minutes before they opened and watched them set the food out 30 minutes before they opened!!! No wonder it wasnt that great.

We are going back in Oct and I have 7pm ressies so I hope it will be as awesome as the first time we ate there.

We've been to Cape May twice most recently a couple of weeks ago. First time we really like it, this time it was only ok. Chowder and salads are very good. You have to take alot of clams because they are very small and most of them are empty. The thing we were most disappointed with this time was the beef at the carving station. It was so undercooked it was purple. Now, I like rare beef but I couldn't even eat it. There is a good selection of food but it just wasn't up to par. We also felt as though we were being rushed.

Thanks for your replies. We are just NW of Boston so I know we won't be getting exactly what we are used to but DH has had clams all over and really always enjoys them.

What do people from New England have against Cape May? Personally, I have been to Boston a few times on business and have always been let down by the seafood. Maybe it has just been built up too much by the people putting down Cape May.

First, the seafood is okay for a buffet. Even if you didn't enjoy it, I think "gross" is a bit harsh. Judging by the people around us with heaping plates of clams and mussels, many others agreed. Of course, we're not from New England so what do we know? :rotfl2:

Second there are many other choices which are quite good. The ribs were the best we had at WDW and I really enjoyed some of the other choices as well.

The best seafood is in Gloucester...it is just amazing, the seafood in Boston is good but there is nothing like eating it straight out of the water!

Give me scallops, clams, haddock etc from Gloucester and I am one happy girl!

I would reconsider your change. Cape May is not that great. Think Old Country Buffet does mussels. Quantity yes, Quality, no.
