We are looking for restaurants we haven't tried and are thinking about the dinner buffet at the Cape May Cafe. Would appreciate any thoughts or reviews. Thanks a lot.

Would not recommend. Bad service!! Food is jsut passable. Great concept but it does not really work!!

We enjoyed it - we stayed at BCV for the first time, after eating at Yachtsman (a 2TS restaurant, and well worth it imho) we wandered into Cape May to check it out - it was a Thursday night, and the place maybe had 10 diners around 7pm - our ressies were for Sat night (after the Half and before the Full Marathon) IT WAS PACKED!! amazing what a difference - our server mentioned it was the busiest it had been since NYE!!

I thought the food was fine, I liked the prime rib - but when they bring out the ribs, they seem to be small and no bone - so I wonder how or what kind of cut - but I will say it tasted great - and they had the sauces of au jus, horseradish, and horseradish cream.... They had several salads, and of course I enjoyed them - dh enjoyed the mussels - I liked the shrimp -

it really just depends on you - if you are used to buffets, you will like it, if you enjoy eating more sit down - maybe not so much!!

(the desserts were also great imho - key lime pie, cheesecake, chocolate...)

Loved it the first 2 times, after that it was just eh, ok. The last time in Oct 07 it wasnt that great. Cold food, breads dried out...it will be a while before we try it again.

Now breakfast there is the best and we make sure to go on every trip

If you're looking for good seafood - stay away. Not much appeals to us there at all except breakfast.

We loved it two years ago; last year it was passable. To us it seemed there were not as many offerings and the wait to get in was VERY slow and we were the only ones waiting and there seemed to be several tables they could have sat us at.

We went there for dinner twice on our last trip this past October. First time we really enjoyed it. Second time, we decide we'd probably never go back. First off, the people seated next to us were complete animals. I mean grown adults standing up and walking on the bench seats to step over their kid so they could get out and get more from the buffet. Ok, that wasn't Cape May's fault. But the rest was. We waited almost an hour after the time of our ADR before we were finally called. The place was not at capacity either, and once we were finally seated, there were many, many open tables. They ran out of the beef 3 times. And I swear when the beef did come up, it was still mooing. Now I like my beef medium rare, but this stuff was about 2 degrees away from being raw. Service was very poor. When our drinks were empty it took forever to get refills. Dirty plates weren't cleared promptly. The food in general was just blah. I had more empty shells in my bowl than ones with actual mussels inside. We were shocked at the night and day difference between two separate visits in the course of one week. I suppose anyone can have an off night, but hey, you're Disney. You're held to a higher standard. And this time you disappointed.
