For one night of my trip, i am torn between the Cape May Cafe at the BC or the Hoop-de-doo at FW. What are your thoughts on this.

I am 20 and my parents are...older than that :) so we don't like a lot of little kid ruckus so that is why i am hesitant to do Cape May.

Now, my one last question is: Where is the food better? Cape may or HDDR? I would guess CMC because the food isn't produced on such a large scale but i'm not entirely sure. :confused3

The dinner at Cape May is not a character meal (breakfast is) so I am confused by your comment about it being a ruckus?

We have never done the HDDR in over 10 years of trips, so I cannot honestly give an opinion on the food there. I will say that we dine at Cape May at least once for dinner each trip (and usually breakfast too!) we love it!

The reason i say ruckus is only because when i have been there in the past, there seem to be a lot of kids running around. No offense whatsoever to parents with kids. All i am saying is that it isn't my style. I don't want to be flamed :)

Oh, I wasn't flaming! I was just confused~thought perhaps you thought the dinner at Cape May was a character meal! It is definitely a hopping place! :)

If you don't like little kid rukus, neither option will please you. CMC is a buffet with a lot of seafood choices although beef and checken are offered as well. Very noisy. That being said, it is a must for us each trip.

Hoop-De-Doo is a sit an all-you-can-eat down dinner (ribs, chicken, corn-on-the-cob, etc) and a show with some audience participation. Very noisy as well...... BUT AN ABSOLUTE HOOT!!!!!

If you want quiet, try the Yachtsman Steakhouse in the Yacht Club.

You asked for a recommendation.......Hoop-De-Doo hands down. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks! we are actually planning on going to the YSH anyway during that trip. I think i'll stick to HDDR. Thanks!!!

I like both places but I will say, for you, go to the HDDR. The Cape May will have better food, but I think you will REALLY enjoy the HDDR show. Also, since the HDDR is table service and the show is going on, the kids (and adults) are not roving around like they do at a buffet. In fact, the kids are usually quite enthralled with the show.

If using the dining plan, do people think HDDR is worth it? Using 2 table service credits for chicken and ribs seems a bit steep.

The HDDR is very entertaining and we love it. I have been there 3 times and it was my DS16 choice this year over the Spirit of Aloha. We have never been to Cape May Clam Bake but we are doing the Clam Bake and the breakfast this year.

If you want quiet you might want to try the Spirit of Aloha, the last show, which has fewer children and the dinner, like the HDDR, is a sit down meal that servers bring while you watch a demonstration of South Pacific dances, etc. with a show. They also serve chicken, rice, pineapple cake. It was very tasty but very different from the HDDR or from what I've read CMCB.

Just my 2 cents worth.

You do not go to the HDDR for the food--although, I find it very tolerable for what it is. The ribs aren't great, but the chicken, salad, corn, beans, and strawberry shortcake are pretty tasty. What you are using 2 credits for is a very funny and enjoyable show. Also, I swear, Pioneer Hall has the best air conditioning of any place on Disney.

at any disney restaurant you stand the chance of having a ruckus with kids as the whole place is just chock full of them! lol.. but usually i find cape may to be quieter and more peaceful then other buffets. we've never done hoop de doo so i can't comment on that. i just wouldn't want to use 2 credits on it

If you want entertainment, obviously pick HDDR.
If you want a good meal, Cape May is MUCH better, and half the price. And it's really not that noisy for dinner.
Personally I'd pick Cape May.

I'm 59, so I probably fall in that "older" category. I love HDDR - not for the food but for the entertainment. The food's not bad, it just wouldn't be my first choice for a nice dinner.

I don't like a ruckus either (like one I experienced at Chef Mickey's) but I highly recommend HDDR

Thanks for the input. Part of my reason for thinking about CMC is that i always stayed at the Beach Club when i was young(er) so there is a sentimental aspect to it. On the other hand, i love the wilderness theming of FW.

I've been to both of these places at least 8+ times each but for this trip coming up, i've filled up every spot except for this one.

Hoop Dee Doo!!!! I have been to both (more recently Cape May this Jan.) and the food was terrible. We spent over 50.00 and it was not worth it at all. The food on the buffet was cold :(. The seafood was not that flavorful to me. I love the Beach Club don't get me wrong, HDD is just a lot more fun and entertaining.

Sounds like a plan. I'm always a little hesitant to trust buffet food only because of the scale on which they produce it. I'm reminded of the food Klinger from M*A*S*H had to cook. ;)

I would say Hoop-de-doo. The food there is really good if you like Ribs and Chicken. If that is not your type of food I would cay Cape May because they have more of a variety of foods. Hoop-de-doo is something everyone should do at least once. I have been a WDW girl for a very long time and I had never tried Hoop-de-doo until a few years ago and now I love it.
