Which would you choose and why? We currently have ADRs for Coral Reef, but I'm wondering if it might be fun to head over to the Beach Club and dine at Cape May Cafe, although I have heard mixed reviews about the dinner buffet.

How old are your children? With little ones we acutally prefer Cape May. We find Coral Reef way toooo loooonggg. And, you aren't guaranteed a table by the tank so you can't always see the fish. Last time we were there we were way at the top and the kids couldn't see the tank.

We really enjoyed the Cape May Buffet. My DS2 at the time could color right on the table as they had a bucket of crayons and the white paper.

Hands down Cape May buffet. We ate at both the Cape May buffet and the Coral Reef and were VERY disappointed in the food at the Coral Reef. We were a party of eight and no one was thrilled with food for the price paid. Highly overrated in my opinion. The Cape May buffet was wonderful. There was 13 of us for that dinner and everyone loved the food. It has a wonderful variety and is kid friendly not to mention very bright. Again, just my opinion.:)

Id say the Coral reef, only because ive never heard of, or been to the other one. Coral Reef has good food, and it kind of reminds me of the Rainforest Cafe.

Another vote for Cape May.

We've dined at both locations, and prefer the atmosphere and buffet choices (especially the desserts) at Cape May.

That being said......when are you going?

This year we are going in mid-July, and tried to get a reservation for Cape May at our 180 day mark. For the first few weeks after our booking window opened no reservations were available "on the system". We later found out that Cape May is scheduled to be closed for renovations this summer. (don't know the exact dates)

I have only had breakfast @ CMC, but Coral Reef is so cool! The atmosphere is awesome in there! Amazing! The breakfast is good, like almost all the other character breakfast buffets, but CR's decor is pretty great! Food is good, too!

I actually like both of these restaurants, but would have to choose Cape May. The buffet is my favorite at WDW. The food is really good and theres a big variety to choose from. It's a must do for us everytime!

I really like Cape May, and I am willing to give Coral Reef another shot. Maybe we just hit a bad night. Eh, it happens.

I guess it comes down to the type of experience you want:

Cape May vs. Coral Reef

getting up and down from your seat to serve yourself from a buffet vs. a plated meal brought to you
lively, family atmosphere vs. that fantastic view of the aquarium
unlimited crab legs vs. no crab legs (I do love crab legs!)

You could end the evening at both restaurants with Illuminations and/or a walk around the Boardwalk.

Both places have their charms. I hope you'll enjoy the choice that you make.

Thanks for all of your reply's. I was able to make the ADR at Cape May which was my original choice. We will be dining on good friday, that's why the seafood. We've been to Coral Reef twice and I do think it's ok, but nothing outstanding. I read some horrible reviews of Cape May, so I was hesitant to go there.

The garlic mashed potatoes are worth an ADR at Cape May. And your hearing won't suffer either. My ears were always ringing after eating at Coral Reef. It has to be one of the loudest restaurants I've ever been in.

If you go to Cape May with realistic expectations I don't think you will be disappointed. The seafood is GOOD, but not great. The salads are very tasty as are the desserts. _I_ did not care for anything there that wasn't salad, seafood or dessert. I've had good service there each time. The seafood they serve has been frozen so it will not be premium quality, but most will not even notice.
