So DH and I are thinking of doing this on 12/3, and then taking the boat over to Epcot and going to the Candlelight Processional later.

Any experience with this dining? Never done it before! I'm not a big shellfish fan, though I'll eat shrimp occasionally. I see they have chicken and other things on thier menu.

Any reviews would be appericiated! What time do you think we should aim for so that we can make it to the CP in time? We'll have to stand in line for seats (we don't really care where we sit, we just want to be there in the stadium).

We tried the clambake in June and enjoyed it. There was a nice selection of food and AWESOME desserts

Quite a variety specializing in seafood. Quality is good, can be very crowded.

We love the clam bake! We like to do it our first night when staying at an Epcot resort. The food was all very good.

Doesn't really compare to the real thing below (a.k.a. one done on a beach in Cape Cod or Maine), but will do for those who want a small taste of the latter.

My DH is from Boston and has only had the real thing a couple times in his life. I think he'd really like this as just a taste of home (since he moved out to Cali about 5 years ago to be with me). It'll be my anniversary present to him then. I hope my travel agent can get us PS! :)
We have the dining plan so I'm really looking forward to those desserts!

There is plenty for non-fishy folks to eat at the clambake.

We didn't love the food there. It was allright, but nothing special.

Beach Club is a short walk to World Showcase. There is also a boat, if you want to go that way.

I always hate to give a bad review of a resurant that I have been to only once, as there are many factors that can influence each experience. That being said, we went to the clam bake a few years back. We were there at the first seating time for dinner. The entire resturant went up to the buffet at the same time. It was a zoo. I waited in line for WDW buffets in the past, but nothing like this. I found the food to be average, although it could just be that I was so dissipointed with the 45 mintues prior to eating, that I had a hard time enjoying my meal. When we left, there were not the huge, unorganized lines that we experienced. My advice would be to make sure to not eat at the first seating times.

I should had the we had breakfeast at Cape May and it was great both in service and food.

Thanks for the advice! We'll keep that in mind. :) Usually the 1st seating at buffets is decidedly UN-crowded (like Boma - a personal fav). We're into taking our time, so I'm not too concerned about a wait, but 45 minutes actually standing in line for food is a LONG TIME - you're right to be turned off!

Does anyone have pictures of the clam bake?

Good thing it's walking distance... we could walk off all that grub!

Cape May's Clam Bake is a must do for us every year!

Make sure you get PS otherwise you might get turned away...But once seated we've never problems in the Buffet area.

It might not be a REAL clam bake as others might want to compare it to but it's my favorite buffet in WDW...

My favorites are the pork ribs, mussels and the to die for OREO BON BONS...YUMM! :goodvibes

The clam bake is always a "must do" for us also. As NHLFAN stated it may not be a true clam bake. but it is very good for Fla. The deserts are to die for :goodvibes

Desserts are my favorite on this buffet. I'm not into seafood and found lots of other stuff that I enjoyed. We try to do this once a trip. We've never had to wait long in the buffet line, though, even right when it opened. But, if I did have to wait that long, I would have left with a bit of a sour taste ... too. All in all, though, we enjoy this buffet.

:goodvibes OK..I have a question....do you all think that cape may can fit a party of 50 on a fri in June? :rotfl: :rotfl: No I am not kidding lol..I need a relatively budgetfriendly place to have a rehersal dinner in the boarwalk/beach club area? Maybe they will open early or something? well thanks for any advice!

That would definitely be a question for the restaurant. I would think that would qualify as a grand gathering and they may have another option for you. That is a lot of people so I'm not exactly sure what they would do. It would be a wonderful rehearsal dinner, though. I would have loved to have done that -- 25 years ago :goodvibes we had a potluck for our rehearsal dinner. Good luck!

We where there in Oct though it was great. The mussels where outstanding. We will go again. :Pinkbounc

Last Nov, my dad and step-mom drove up from Pompano Beach to visit us at WDW the day after Thanksgiving. My dad has a hearing issue so I wanted someplace to eat that wasn't as noisy as others. And we were at BWV so Cape May seemed to be a good fit. My dh had been asking about this dinner for several years now, so we killed two birds with one stone. There was roast beef for me since I don't eat fish/shellfish. It was just okay. We are from NE but didn't have any thoughts that it would be authentic. The food was just okay...service was not good. Our server brought our drinks the first time and then just disappeared! Never got refills, took 30 minutes to get our check. This wouldn't have seemed so bad if the food had been better.....especially since my dad insisted on picking up the bill. But, I won't say that it was bad...just mediocre. However, the desserts were pretty awsome. We love Cape May for breakfast.

We ate there in June. It was my DH's favorite meal I think. It was only okay for me. Lines for seafood were long the whole time. I tried some clams and they were sandy. Yuck. Not for me.

I tried the New England clam chowder - too thick and not very flavorful for me. I prefer Manhattan but they don't have it. I don't think I ate any other seafood. I had plenty to eat but can't really remember what the selections were. I remember the cornbread was really good.

OMG! I love all of the choices that you get! I enjoy the waitstaff there too. They are very good. Okay, individual, food quality is medium* ribs much better to me at Wilderness Lodge, clams are a bit on the dry side. I feel like a complete glutton with all of the food, salad and dessert bar choices!! I always go at least once while at WDW.

I'm not a big shellfish fan
That's probably a good thing -- the seafood and shellfish there is not really what many seafood and shellfish lovers consider good. It's AYCE, and that's probably the best indication of its strength.
