Cape May Cafe Buffet Dinner Price Increase

It's crazy. The buffets are falling off my radar. As much as I like Boma and Cape May, I am not spending $200.00+ for my family of four. It is a shame, I love that seafood buffet. I plan on sneaking down to the Boma breakfast buffet by myself I can afford the $25.00 or so for me. But please don't tell the rest of my family.:guilty:

There may be a peak season surcharge on the price you quoted, but even without that, it is still way too expensive.

The price quoted on allearsnet RIGHT NOW does include tax and is the pricing for the peak summer months.

If you call Disney dining, they will give you the correct price for the time of year you are going.

I just noticed the price today!!!! Yikes, that's priced really high. We've eaten here twice before, while on the dining plan, so I thought maybe I just didn't notice the price, but I am pretty sure that's an increase since we last ate there. We are going back in Dec. and have ressies here one day. We are on the dining plan for this trip, but if we weren't I don't think we'd be eating here. Way to much money for my family of 4, two adults and two children that don't eat very much to begin with.

We haven't purchased the dining plan in a few trips, but each trip I notice that they are almost forcing guests into the dining plan. Its impossible to eat for a reasonable price so you may as well just get the darn plan and be done with it. At least that's how it feels to me. After our trip in March we realized that we didn't come out ahead at all by not having the dining plan like we had done in past years. Don't get me wrong we love WDW, and have had some great meals, and wonderful dining experiences over the years. However, at this point I'm thinking it might be time to go back to one nice dinner and one character breakfast per trip, and just eat cheaper for the rest of the trip. Its crazy when for some folks the food is the most expensive part of their trip. But as long as we keep going, eating and spending.......

I just noticed it too, and if we werent on the dining plan we wouldnt be eating there! Actually, if we werent on the DP, my husband would probably limit us to 1-2 table service meals the whole trip!

Come on, people, pay attention!! Those prices are for PEAK season and they include tax. The regular 35.99 plus tax is still in effect the rest of the year at least for now. Remember the DDP also has a peak price AND the price for 2012 has gone up to $51.50 per adult per day.

I know the price is peak, and I'm so glad to not be there during the peak times! I'm very thankful for the free dining we're getting. On our next trip, when we won't have the plan, we will happily eat counter service rather than spend $120+ per meal for our little family. :)

PEAK or not peak, its still way too much for a buffet. Like I said before, without the dining plan I wouldn't be eating here, and it looks like several others feel the same.

The OP stated that this is the price listed on allears website. I saw the same price, and no where is it listed that this is the peak season charge (there is a "disclaimer" that prices may vary during peak season, however the way it is listed does appear that this is the regular price). Maybe we aren't as savvy as you, sharonabe, but to anyone looking at prices on allears it appears that this is the regular price.

We ate here OOP last year. We are 2 adults and 2 older teens. My kids picked at the buffet and ate mostly the pizza. Not speaking for everyone, but for us, it was definitely not worth the over $200 we paid.

There was a multi-page thread on this very topic not two weeks ago, and then another thread about a week after that. This is the third time the topic has come up since allearsnet updated their prices for AUGUST.

Cape May has been 35.99 for regular season for at least this whole year, and I believe for even longer. This is not a sudden jump in buffet prices. They've always been this expensive, but for some reason, it's beginning to bother people.

Most of the buffets are character buffets and as such you're paying more for the experience than the food. Cape May is not one of those, but it does have seafood. Ohana is another dinner buffet without characters, and it is a few dollars cheaper.

I'm sorry for sounding harsh in my other post, but the thread seemed to be stuck on that $42.59 price and I think people need to be made aware that is not the regular price.

I'm obviously not a mod, but just FYI all tipping is supposed to stay on the tipping thread, so that arguments don't break out on other threads.:goodvibes

We ate at the Cape May Buffett for dinner last week (DDP). Though the desserts were exceptional, the seafood was bland at best. Now granted I live on the Outer Banks where we catch our seafood but the unseasoned frozen steamed shrimp were pretty mushy and the crab legs were, well, just okay. I won't pay the $31.99 the restaurants want for buffetts around here and let's just say that in the future, I won't pay $34.99 for the Cape May Buffett on the dining plan or not.

Hi! Totally agree. The shrimp were boiled NO seasoning at all, the crab legs were horrible, over done and would not come out of the shell easily. This buffet, is NOT worth the premium price.

Side note -- The Boma buffet along with Ohana used to be $25.99 back in 2007, both restaurants have been increasing significantly every year. We were at Ohana and Cape May, both were average at best. Ohana used to be one of our favorites, well NO MORE, it's lacking in food and service. Not a good experience. I will say Boma is the BEST buffet in all of WDW.

Good luck. Brunette

Wow, I was going to chime in that it's worth every penny to us.

Though I guess we're not seafood snobs (not meant in a mean way - we just live about the furthest from any ocean for fresh seafood that you can be).

Thanks for posting this reminder. :goodvibes

For anyone looking for the tipping thread to address their buffet tipping questions, it's a sticky at the top of the forum. The first post of the thread has thread guidelines, a tipping FAQ and an explanation as to why there is just one thread.

I paid 4.29 for a bag of potato chips today at the supermarket..I will pay whatever Cape May charges the food is good..

I recently cancelled a Cape May ressie. The decision was made mostly because of the posted $42 price.

But we all have decided that we just dont eat enough to pay buffet price.
