We've been to Chef Mickey's for the character breakfast and on our next WDW trip we'll be staying at the Beach Club Villas. My mom really gets a hoot out of going to the character meals and I was thinking this might be fun for her.

Anyone here tried it? How does it compare to Chef Mickey's?

Also... I usually hang out on the cruise boards so I'm going to display my ignorance... what are ADRs and can anyone make them once they have an on-site WDW hotel reservation?

Thanks!

Brenda

Hi Brenda,

ADRs are Advanced Dining Reservations. You can make them up to 180 days in advance, and you do not even have to be staying on-site to make them!

If you do a search on this board you'll find lots of other threads on Cape May.

I did the Cafe May Buffet for breakfast on our last trip and I really enjoyed it. The food was great, the room is light and bright and the character interaction was great.

You will find Cape May's breakfast somewhat less hectic & significantly quieter than Chef Mickeys. No napkin waving, no singing, no "required" photos. The characters are Minnie, Goofy, Chip n' Dale. Minnie usually greets guests at the entrance, however, last time we went she was making the rounds of the tables, too.

The characters spend more time at each table and interact more than at Chef Mickeys. Part of this is Cape May is somewhat smaller, but it also seems to be the way things are done there. Lots of time for photos & autographs.

The food is (JMO) much better than Chef's. Good sized buffet with something to suit anyone -- hot and cold items included. They tend to replenish the food quickly. My only gripe is that the OJ glasses are small and you have to wait for your server to do a refill. Just leave the carafe -- PLEASE!

Highly recommend it -- you'll have a grand time.

We ate at Cape May Cafe during our last trip while staying at the BC. It is now one of our favorite character meals. Food was good, characters were great (so cute in their bathing suits) and it was nice that it was right downstairs.

My DS-9 is requesting that we eat here again on our upcoming trip. He and Goofy had a blast drawing pictures and writing notes on the paper table covers. Everytime Goofy came around he would write or draw a little something for DS. Then DS would respond with a picture or note - then they would giggle and nod and giggle and hug. It was so cute.

I'm glad to hear these positive reports. I just booked it for 12/1, my first solo character meal. Anything particularly good I should have to eat?

We absolutely love the Cape May...we go at least once every trip! We have never been disappointed!
