As big fans of Cape May we had breakfast here this past Saturday morning. I must say it was the first time I was ever disappointed in their breakfast. We probably eat here a few times a year and I don't ever remember feeling this way.
The food selection was very limited. The same items were available on both sides. Plain eggs, eggs with veggies, potatoes, bacon and blintzes totally saturated in an apple sauce. Hard biscuits, hard bagels even after lightly toasting them and a few "select" danish varieties also available.
There was some fruit but most of it was not real ripe, no yogurt or anything like that. In the kids section, only Mickey wafffles (and they were sitting). I remember in the past they had pancakes and more varieties of danish and semi soft bagels and biscuits. It was just disappointing. I actually felt "ripped off" this visit and don't know if we'll return there anytime soon. They also only guarantee Chip OR Dale now so you only end up seeing 3 characters instead of 4. I think they're cutting the corners a bit too much now.
On the other hand, we went to Chef Mickey's for the first time in a while because we thought that was just an "ok" breakfast, however this was much better than I remember. They had a variety of eggs, potatoes, french toast, pancakes, Mickey waffles, ripe fruit, various yogurt varieties and softer bagels and lots of different types of danish. Oh and they also have those blintzes but they're not drenched in sauce, they actually serve it on the side. They are really good IMHO and really don't need ANY sauce, but at least here you have a choice.
You see 5 characters here (1 is in the buffet area for "meet n greet") but 4 of them circulate. So, I would definitely put this on our list for next time-and hopefully it'll still be good.
Just thought it was interesting how they've switched. Consistency is not always a factor when it comes to the WDW buffets.
