Is it possible to sit at the Cantina in Mexico to watch Illuminations or is it so packed its not even worth it? Any thoughts would be great!

:cool1:

Its got a good view for some seats, but the trees and umbrellas block the action for alot of tables.

thanks! I didnt make a ADR for Epcto because I figured we would just eat there ... but now Im worried! Maybe Ill call and see whats avail ... but at only 2 weeks out probably nothing!

The Cantina doesn't require ADRs. It is the counter service restaurant located outside the Mexico Pavilion. We just ate there on Thursday- one of the combination plates was enough food for two and then some! I think we sat down about an hour before Illuminations (just to eat, not to watch) & people had already staked out their places. On the other hand, we walked out of Le Cellier on Monday at 8:55 & found a place right up next to the railing. It was perfect!

The Cantina is our favorite place to watch Illuminations. We always grab some nachos and enjoy the show. Over the summer months, we've seen people grabbing tables about an hour or so before the fireworks. Last September, we were able to grab a table at about 15 minutes before it started.

To view Illuminations but plan to stake out your seat/table 90 minutes before show.I will add that I have almost seen folks come to blows over folks trying to move in front of them by fence. Some real x rated cussing:eek: and very unDisney behavior by adults:sad2: .To us it is not worth the hassle and just ruins our evening to see the fighting for a veiwing spot. Many good veiwing spots can be had 15 to 30 minutes before show. Thanks everyone! We might hit there for dinner and if we happen to catch a good spot then we do. Last year we walked right out of france and got a spot right at the rail. It was great. Is the food worth going there? It seemed reasonable to me. 5 days and counting

nachos + Dos Equis + Illuminations =

We've sat at the Cantina a few times, but never got a *great* view. Too many trees/umbrellas. Sometimes that's just fine though, you know?

Yeah. I totally get you :) My DH loves the dos equis too! Cant wait to go. 5 days!

We watched Illuminations here on our last trip- got a table about an hour before the show started. We sat right next to the railing and the view was great. To keep from being too bored waiting, some of us went to ride the boat ride while others ate, then switched.

That is SUCH a great idea! There are 5 of us. 2 couples and my 14 DS. 3 of us can go while the other 2 can stay and vice versa. Is there a boat stop nearby?:dance3:

I actually meant the ride in the Mexican pavillion. It used to be called rio del tiempo, but I think they renamed it.

I think that poster was referring to the boat ride inside the Mexico Pavillion. It used to be "El Rio Del Tiempo", but now it's themed to Donald, Jose, and Panchito - Los Tres Caballeros.

Have fun! :)
