Can't We Just Travel by Map? Oct 2013 PTR

I didn't get into Once Upon a Time right away either. I actually watched the entire first season on Netflix and then watched the first few episodes of Season Two on abc.com to get caught up...and now I am HOOKED! You should definitely give it a try. It is a great show! :thumbsup2

speaking of Hook... that man is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
same as you i wasn't into it until a friend of mine made me watch it with her. and i am Hooked on HOOK!!!
:rotfl:

I am caught up!

Are you KIDDING!!! I am so sorry!! you have to go! i will pray for you!!!
Keep your chin up, it will work out. i know it will for you!

Your plans look great and your plans on the saving looks even better! we always ask for DGC for the kids the year we go to Disney and honestly it pretty much pays for everything when we go... for you!!!

I am sorry to hear how stressed this is making your DH. I get it, though. I just read about the new deductions online and was surprised to see that it can have such a huge impact on a family.

Now, let's talk Disney and options. You know we stay off site now, right?
It's because it's the difference between going and not going, and I have to go! So, take some time and peruse ebay...check out the Welovebonnetcreek thread on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board. There are a few different renters listed there that give great deals on a stay there. It would provide you guys with lots of space, awesome pools and it seriously is closer than some of the Onsite WDW resorts.

The dining plan is overrated IMHO...just think about all that food you said would be extra if you guys ate on the dining plan. We share meals and save money that way, too. Plus, breakfast in your room at a condo is so easy!

I am sending you lots and lots of this stuff....pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I hope that you get whatever it takes to make this work, whether it's selling the bike...lots on your tax return...what ever it takes!!!

Your trip sounds like SO fun but my life will never be the same now that I know your name is Connie and not Oopsie?! Ruth

I have faith that with a little bit of pixie dust, you will get there for at least one day and that it will be a day to remember!! Sending you the warmest wishes and lots of hugs&squishes :flower3:

Hello All! I have been avoiding the Disboards for a week or so, but decided to bite the bullet and come on back over. I have been incredibly sad about the decision we finally made. Officially, our October trip will not be a Disney vacation. We have decided just to stay with my folks in Orlando and make it a Florida vacation. There is still hope for a little more Disney magic to be added to that vacation if we sell the motorcycle. For now, I want to try to wrap my brain around planning a fun Florida vacation, and then any extra money that comes in will be used to add more pixie dust to the trip. pixiedust:

We are pretty certain we will get to go to Disney at least one day. We have friends who work there, and may be able to get us in for free. The bonus for those CM tickets is that they are park hoppers. :thumbsup2 We also have the very real possiblity of going to the Kennedy Space Center for a day. My cousin (one of those who will be at the Family Cookout already planned) is married to an astronaut, so we are pretty sure they can get us tickets to the Space Center. :)

So, there will still be fun things to do, just not immersed in Disney like we all REALLY want to be. :earboy2: Brian is so very disappointed in this decision. As the "provider" he feels as if HE is the one letting us down. I feel so horrible for him, and try to constantly remind him that it is not his fault. Our economy has been horrible for a while and it has just now caught up to us. I feel so incredibly blessed because we both still have jobs, and we can still pay our bills.

We have not shared the news with our children yet. We will wait until we get our tax return to get a real sense of how much money we will have for vacation. We would like to have a few things already planned so that we can tell them that while we can't do a Disney vacation this year, we WILL be doing this, this and that.

So, there it is. I am so glad Disney will still be there when we are able to go back for real. I am so glad I have my Disfriends to stay connected to. This is just the best community of online friends ever! :goodvibes

:sad1: I'm sorry you won't be able to go back for a full Disney vacation this year. It sounds like you have thought it throrough and are doing what is best for your family.

Hopefully you will be able to sell the Motorcycle and still get to have a few Disney days.

I just wanna say that even though it might not be the trip you planned I hope everything works out for you and that regardless of where you end up I hope you have a great time :goodvibes

The Kennedy Space Center is so much fun! And your kiddos are at the perfect age for it! You will still have a magical trip no matter what you do and it will still be making memories, which afterall is what a family vacation is all about

Oh Connie... I know this has been super hard for you... and I know your DH must really be beating himself up over it - but you know what... You and your amazing family are truly blessed - and I really honestly think that no matter where you go, you will have a GREAT time because you are together. Simple as that. And I know the kids might be disappointed at first, but you have the most amazing and grateful kids I have ever seen - and I know they will understand.

It's been very hard for me to watch all of my best Dis friends struggling to make their trips work... I wish there was some way I could just take you all with me. (((Hugs)))

And whether you go to Disney, or Florida, or a road trip 20 miles from home... We are all still here and we love ya - and WANT to hear about it. ;)

If there was a way to like that post I so would!!!!

Oh, Oopsi. I know how hard of a decision this must have been for you. As others have said, no matter where you vacation in October, you're still going to have a great time making family memories and just being together. I hope you continue with your PTR because I really enjoy reading your updates and seeing all the special things you do for your kids.

So sorry to hear about your vacation.

This happened to us in 2012. We were unable to take a Disney Vacation and we just stayed home. DH & I ended taking time off to help during the High School Marching Band season. So we filled our time with this. It helped.

But we are making up for it in 2013 and going to Disney for 2 weeks now that things are going a little better.

We will pray for your adorable family.

Take care and hugs

It has taken me a bit to adjust to the changes in my heart, but I am much better now! Looking forward to a certain Dismeet very soon!!! :goodvibes

I have a feeling it is going to be a great trip regardless. I am just excited that I will still get to hook up with a particular Disfriend while I am down there! :hyper:

I gave myself a serious attitude adjustment over the weekend, and now I am finally ready to look at and plan this trip from a different, yet still fun, angle. Thanks for your encouragement!

Thanks for your kind words, D~! I am so blessed to have such wonderful Disfriends!! :cloud9: I will stick around on this PTR. We still plan to be down there in October, and we still plan to drive. So my PTR title doesn't even have to change. I still plan to sprinkle as much Disney magic as I can into this trip! :wizard:

If there was a way to like that post I so would!!!!

Me too!!! :cloud9:

It seems a lot of folks are having to trim down the frequency of Disney trips....but it will always be there and we will always find our way back, won't we? :goodvibes I am so excited for your family to get to go back. And what a great year to return...new Fantasyland awaits you!!!! :cool1:

So, I took this past weekend to give myself a serious attitude adjustment. I was bogged down in a lot of selfishness and needed to get myself out of that horrible funk. There are so many folks in this current economy who are without jobs, homes forclosed on, etc. Brian and I are blessed with good jobs that we love, we are able to pay our bills and we have wonderful and appreciative children who will be exctied about ANYTHING we do on vacation. :cloud9: So, now I am looking forward to planning for our October FLORIDA vacation! :thumbsup2

We have decided to use our entire tax return and any money we get from selling the motorcylce onto our credit card bill. We have been able to make monthly payments on it, but the minimum payment increases every month and it is just time to drop some serious mulah on the little monster. :smooth:

Brian will still get a bonus from work in April, and the money from that will go towards purchasing some Disney magic for our October trip. :mickeyjum We have decided to not tell the kids about the change in plans until then. A lot can change between now and April, so we just want to have our plans more concrete before we bring the kids in on it. We just do not want to cause them any more disappointment or worry than is necessary.

I really do have a good feeling that the trip is going to be a blast. I have already been busy making sure I will still get to meet up with some Disfriends who will be down there in October. We have already decided that DTD is a "must do" for us as well. I look forward to sharing our plans with all of you as they unfold. popcorn::

Thanks to all of you for your encouraging words and for sticking around even when plans changed so drastically for us! Disfriends are simply the best! :jumping1:

I'm excited, can't wait for DTD!!!! oh and pool time :D and any other time YAYYYYYY!!!Just know I'm always around somewhere if you need to chat.

I am very glad to hear this... I've missed seeing you around.

And I know that no matter what you plan - it will be amazing and wonderful - I am sure!

D~

I hate to hear that your plans are changing so drastically, but from the looks of it you guys will have a wonderful vacation no matter what. At least you will be together as a family! Like you said...so many aren't fortunate enough to have jobs and take any sort of vacation. :goodvibes

I will still be around following along with your plans for an October FLORIDA vacation. And I will be wishing for some pixiedust pixiedust: for some Disney magic for your trip!

I'm sorry to hear about your trip changes. I've been enjoying your movie nights and hope things go well over the next few months for you. I know all about tight finances lately. Keep your chin up, things will get better. :)
Sending lots of pixie dust and prayers your way.
