"Can't we all just get along, please"

Okay I love the DIS borads and all, but these last couple of weeks have been nuts! I have seen some threads that people have started and the op says this( or vs. verse) and gets everyone all pumped up where pretty soon the thread goes out of control and everyone is yelling at each other. It just makes me so sad to see this, . I know everyone has there own ideas on things and thats fine, but we don't have to beat each other up over it!

I'm not a fan of debate or baiting threads either. Since debates returned to the CB, I have to be super-selective about threads. It feels like I'm tip-toeing around land mines sometimes. I just don't come here as often or with the same feeling anymore, but I do still visit and I've gotten fairly adept at avoiding the wars of words. It's just the way the CB has become.

Just about every month or two someone makes the same observation, and that's been the way it has been since I joined the community almost seven years ago. It actually was a lot worse at one point. I think a far greater number of members are now respectfully disagreeing with each other when they disagree, unlike before where the impolite folks ran amok to a much greater extent.

I usually won't jump into a fight unless I feel like someone is getting unfairly treated. What are you supposed to do, sit around and watch 9 pages of someone getting the you-know-what beat out of them? Sometimes I don't even agree with the OP, but I just can't stand a lynch mob.

When I Meet People The First Thing I Do Is Size Them Up And Decide On One Of Three Things. Am I Going To Have Them For Breakfast, Lunch Or Dinner.

I really didn't think so or I would have given you the . It would have been a fun argument, though, us all calling you mom names and stuff. Would have been a great start to the day!!!!!

...we all DO get along just fine here. When you think about it,
a discussion board has a lot of people bringing a lot of "stuff" to the table. Geez,families of 5 have a hard time agreeing on matters,why would you ever think a discussion board with hundreds of members get along??? That's just not realistic.

And I for one think it is possible to all get along and to respect one another, we don't all have to like each other, but we for sure still can get along and be nice to one another!

I found out some DIS'ers are surprised when another person will post to "THEIR" thread. I learned to stay away from those threads-who needs that kind of aggravation.
