Can't Track Tags? - WHAT?

I'm not overly concerned that I leave in 10 days and haven't gotten my DME tags yet, but I was rather suprised when I contacted DME and they told me they had no way of tracking whether the tags had been sent yet.

Running thru my mind I was thinking... HOW can you have a tag with a barcode to allow you to track the luggage on which it is placed... yet not be able to track whether those tags have been packaged and shipped to the guests?!?

I wonder if I should contact Disney and let them know I'm a computer scientist and available to consult them on the system development life cycle model - I think they skipped a few steps...

Oh well, I'm still going to WDW... 10 days

DME told me that the tags are shipping out of NY, apparently directly from the printer. So the people at the DME office are completely out of the loop.

On another note, I asked about the voucher for the lanyard and pin and how I could go about getting a replacement if my DME packet doesn't arrive in time. The DME person I spoke with had NO clue about it, and said those weren't coming from Disney, they must be coming from people's travel agents.

The only thing I know about the pins are from what people posted on here. MY TA didn't mention anything about pins or lanyards for DME.

The CM at DME did tell me that they were still shipping via FedEx since they are still trying to get caught up. I'd still think they should have some record or indication that the information has been sent to the printer and would be shipped directly.

I'm sure they will arrive, I just wonder if they will arrive to my TA in time to ship them to CA so my family gets their tags too.
