Can't Ride Anymore

No, I guess I'm lucky. At 67 I still ride everything I did when I was 35. I chose not to do some now because I just didn't enjoy them all that much, but, I have no doubt that I could if I wanted. I ride all the mountains with the exception of Space Mountain, but, only because I was never that impressed with it to begin with. Other then that, the sky is the limit.

I can't do teacups or Primeval Whirl; Mission Space is iffy (i've riddent it before, but did get queasy). When I was younger, I could do any spinning ride I wanted to with no issues, but in my 30's I started to get sick doing them and have had to stop.

I will be 48 and I have some health issues now. I was never a big thrill ride person, no ToT or RnR. As I got older though, I couldn't do the tea cups anymore, that spinning makes me sick. Now, with my back and neck, I hurt so badly after Space Mountain last year, I really don't think I will be riding it again. I was also thinking of trying EE, but I'm too scared, not just because I am not a roller coaster person, but also, I'm nervous about my neck and back. I LOVE BTM and last year, I was super sore and bruised after riding because I am tiny, and with my arms being pretty weak, I couldn't hang on that well, and I was riding alone, and I slid around and whacked my legs and hips and stuff. It was rough. :( I think if I was able to be in there with another person, that would stop me from sliding around so much, it might be ok, and I'd try it again. To go alone again, I don't think I can. That breaks my heart, cause it was one of my absolute favs. I did ok on 7DMT. I also don't really want to do Splash anymore. Not just because of the drop, but because I don't want to be wet. Also won't do Kali because of that. One year, I was in my 30's I suppose, I took some little kids on with me and it was a sweltering summer day. Some water splashed up on me, and it was so freezing cold, and I sort of hunched up my shoulders, because it was so shockingly cold, it was just a reflex, and I pinched a nerve in my back and sprained my neck or something. Holy cow, it hurt for two or three days.

52 this coming weekend and for the past 5 years or so I have had to cross Big Thunder Mountain off the list. It gives me back and neck pain and a serious migraine. Same with Rock n Rollercoaster. Everest isn't too bad and I can usually manage Tower of Terror if I don't do it repeatedly. Dinosaur is another no no and I'm okay on Mission Space Green but not Orange. I have lower back issues so I never know from day to day what I'll have to look forward to :)

I'm nearing 40. I can't do Space Mtn anymore due to the jerkiness of it. Hurts my back, hips and neck. I love Star Tours but either it's getting worse or I am. Slightly queasy afterwards. I have no problem with RnR. I'm fine with EE. I've noticed my motion sickness which used to be only when I was a passenger in a car has spread to coasters. Most of the rides I used to go on at other theme parks, like Kings Island, are tough on me. It seems the smoother the better though.

I think that they increased the jerkiness on Star Tours when they revamped it. It is a Ride that I cannot do after lunch now. Teacups have never been one I'd do and Space Mountain hurts me due to the straddle tope of seating.

I won't ride Space Mountain anymore. About 3 years ago I started getting dizzy beyond belief after riding. o_O I tried again in 2013- same thing. I always used to ride without any issues. On our trip last December I just decided my Space days have passed!

TowerOfTerror. If ever i am going to have a blood vessel blow in my head it will be on that ride.:Pinkbounc:Pinkbounc

Space Mountain. I rode it twice in October and changed my third FP+ for it to ... well nothing. The app was not working.

48 here and still.going strong. Already been to 2 parks. 15 coasters so far. My DD and I blasted thru 6 coasters in 90 minutes at Hersheypark. We are going to six flags great adventure 2 days before we get to disney. So add about 8 more to my count so far. I also told her when I hit 50 I quit. For no other reason than I'm officially too old for this at 50

I have always had problems with spinning rides making me sick. As I've gotten older (45 now, soon to be 46) and manged to rupture a disc, I now try to avoid anything that might put unwanted burden on my back.

One year, we went on the safari, and I had all I could do to get out of the bus at the end of it. One of the bumps early on in the ride got my back going, and I spent the rest of the rid just trying to brace myself against the seat so it didn't hurt too much lol. Who'd have thought, the safari hahahahaha.

Strangely enough, though spinning has always bothered me, I do the teacups without any problems. Astro Orbiter . . . you couldn't pay me enough to ride that beast :rotfl2:

At 70, along with back issues, I have given up on Space Mountain, Everest, RnRC and Tower of Terror some years back.

Mine is Star Tours. DH really likes it, so I will ride, but generally keep my eyes closed and then I don't get queasy.

Space Mt. is very jerky and that's a whole other issue for me (scrambled brain, anyone?!), but for general motion sickness I cannot say enough good about Bonine!!!! Works just like Dramamine (which is my best friend when I fly and I want to sleep! :teeth: ) but without the heavy drowsiness. But I'm in the same boat as a lot of you: I'm 49 this year and my last few trips to WDW (or any amusement park, for that matter), I find I have less tolerance for motion. It's a physiological thing, unfortunately, as we age.....stuff just doesn't keep up like it used to! (in this case those nice little floating bones in your inner-ear).

If you can take OTC meds I highly recommend a motion-sickness pill! :thumbsup2

I'm almost 53 and have not seen any change over time. I have always loved all "real" thrill rides. However, even as a youngster I sometimes will get queasy--even VERY queasy--on "fake" thrill rides (ones where you are looking at a video while the seat makes small movements to simulate onset motion). I guess my body and brain/inner ear sense some small disconnect between the video and the movements. I will even discretely stare at the back of the seat in front of me occasionally to get my head back on straight. (I do it discretely so my kids won't see me doing it!)

RnR kills my head, the side to side motion is rough on a short person, I get knocked into the shoulder harnesses the whole time and come off with a bad headache.
I'm also a one and done on Space Mountain, my back can only handle so much. I get off that ride sore as heck.

At 36, I can still ride just about antyhing, so long as it doesn't go upside down.

I don't know what's changed, as I have always loved coasters and thrill rides, the more loops and whirls the better - but now, in a loop, my left eye "greys out," and stays out for the duration of the ride. Vision returns to normal when I get off the ride, but I inevitably get a full migraine about 20 minutes later.

I've read that this is all harmless, but it's not worth ruining the rest of my day. I do miss 'em. :)

Sadly. I can handle 1 - 2 coasters a day, so I had to chose carefully at BGT last year.
I can't do tilt-a-whirls or tea cups style rides.
And my dad was able to do anything right up until he died at age 53. I wish I had taken after him more in that department.
