We are on ME, heading to BCV. We've had a week to remember in New Jersey, many friends and family are still in shock. We packed in the dark last night, with our last flashlight batteries dying, and then me following my wife around with candles. We almost feel guilty for being here, and its quite surreal to not be dealing with the current realities of life in NJ after Sandy. We have shed many tears for our friends and family, especially those who have lost it all. We have dealt with frustration, anger, angst and survival, going meal to meal and thankful for any distraction. We didn't know if we'd even make it to the airport because we couldn't find gas to get there; I spent 5 hours yesterday and finally got $40 worth--just enough.

We are having a hard time accepting that we are here, but will make the most of it and have fun with our kids who are so deserving after the last week, they've been angels who have not complained once.

Despite the countless trips we've made to WDW and all those to come, I suspect this will be the one we appreciate the most and never forget. Most importantly, our thoughts will remain with those struggling with such tremendous loss.

Have a safe and magical trip. Enjoy every moment with your family. You need a break from this, your family needs a break from the mess of sandy. We have been dealing with the same, no power, no telephone, freezing house and it is devastating. We look forward to the end of this mess and our upcoming trip. It was actually a little bit of hope just to send out our Christmas tree for the DVC exchange and people at the store got very snarky about it. But I know that families will enjoy it and I wish you and your family the most magical time. Maybe the next light up toy for you all will be at illuminations or wishes!! :wizard:

:) We lost everything in Katrina as did family members. We went ahead and took the trip we had planned that December in 2005. It was exactly what we needed at the time we needed it. I completely get where you are coming from. Disney is a special place on Earth--you can actually heal your heart there. I did....have a wonderful time and enjoy every second with family when and while you can.

Happy Holidays!! We got back from our WDW trip yesterday!!

Have a good time and try not to feel too guilty about getting away from a terrible situation. :)

I am so glad you are able to be there! Enjoy your vacation, recharge and appreciate!

Just have fun and enjoy the warmth. (still cold without power here in central NJ Monmouth County)

i understand how you feel in a way. All my friends and family are suffering in NY and NJ and I feel so bad planning my trip to DW in two weeks for my 30th bday.

My heart :lovestruc is with you, OP, and with all those still struggling in the Northeast. It is horrific to watch the suffering on TV so I can't even imagine the reality of living it all day, every day. WDW is certainly a great place to escape and leave the outside world behind. I hope that your trip is magical, and most of all, healing. :wave2:

You all deserve a little Magic in your lives.pixiedust: I'm in NJ too and will be heading to DW at the end of the month. I hope you have a wonderful time.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :grouphug:to all those who are bearing the brunt of Sandy.

Crying as I read this and so happy you guys were able to make your trip! :earsboy:You are probably correct, and this will be the trip you remember most and appreciate even more. Enjoy every second together as a family!

Blessings to your family :)

I hope the Disney Magic helps you all relax and heal from the horrible past week :tinker:

I can't think of anyone who deserves this more, considering what you've been through. Count your blessings and have the time of your life. :goodvibes

Have a magical trip and may you find things better on your return home! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Have a wonderful trip:)....we arrived back on long island from disney last sunday ahead of sandy.....we were one of the lucky ones....everyone is safe....and we now have and Internet back and .no damage to our home......so we know what your going through....enjoy and hopefully the gas lines will be gone when you return

Enjoy!! We are also in Nj and will be done in a few days . I have a feeling "jersey week" in Disney will have a whole new meaning this year! Everyone has a different story to share.

Hug your kids a little tighter and enjoy this magical time. I pray you come home to something better!

Have a fun trip! This week was horrible. We just got our power back yesterday and we've yet to venture down to Seaside to see our family's home. I can't wait to get down to the world and get a way in a few weeks.

We're on LI, no damage from Sandy but more than half of our block still has no electricity and gas lines are incredible. If we survive the Noreaster set to hit tomorrow and LaGuardia Airport doesn't flood, we'll hopefully be in WDW Fri Night to enjoy the weekend at F&W. So glad you are able to take your vacation. Think of it as a mental health week and enjoy!!!!
