Can't prioritize transferred points over my own points at the same home resort?

I'm not sure if this is accurate or if I need to try again with a different Member Services representative. I'll simplify the scenario a little bit...

I booked a reservation at Aulani during the home resort booking window using both my own Aulani contract as well as points that were transferred to me from another member. Fast forward to today, and we're modifying the reservation in a way that will require fewer total points. However, my personal Aulani contract has "use first" priority and is locked in place, and the only points I'm able to get refunded to me are from the transferred pool. Is this accurate? I understand that Aulani needs to be locked ahead of other resorts to prevent abuse of the home resort window but swapping one Aulani contract for another shouldn't be a problem, right?

Are both your membership and the transferred points the same UY? If not, is it possible that the points from your personal points would expire before the transferred points?

The opposite actually. The transferred points are October 2025 and my own points are December 2025.

Because you booked using your own AUl contract during home resort and the transferred points, it locks the contract you had listed first.

I assume it was your own one. Once that happens, only MS can try to get the lock removed.

If your reservation used any banked or borrowed points from your contract, those must be used before any transferred points.

I can’t tell from the post when this trip is happening.

Sounds like both are AUL points and you are simply changing views or dates when modifying.

Call MS, they should be able to help swap that around. But, I’ve never used any transfer points during a home resort period so I’m not sure if that makes a difference or not.

The full story is that the first night of my stay is still available so I modified the reservation to drop the first night, used the refunded points in a dummy reservation to protect them, then added the first night back onto the original reservation to burn my OTUP. Then I canceled the dummy reservation.

So the end goal was to get 24 Aulani points off of the reservation while getting 24 OTUP onto it. This half-worked, as I was able to get the Aulani points out but not the exact Aulani points I wanted.

Both my own contract and the transfer contract are locked, but they're locked in order at #1 and #2.

Okay, that helps. So, what you need is for MS to rearrange them so you have the transferred points contract #1.

They would be the only ones to accomplish that. It seems like it wouldn’t be a big deal! Keep us posted!
