Can't order a cake...

I tried calling the Coral Reef number that two different CMs gave me so I could TRY to order a special request cake for DH/my anniversary. I say "Special request" because I need to find out if they can do a sugar-free cake or dessert (for which I'm assuming I'll have to pay & that's fine).
However, twice when I called NO ONE answered. :confused3
It made me sad that I couldn't get through, and I'm wondering, now, if even if I DO get through...can I depend on them to follow through? :confused3
Sad to say, but I'd never have expected them to not answer a phone (not like there was voice mail option, either...).

So...does anyone have a 'magical number' they can suggest, and/or does anyone know if they can accomodate such a request (sugar-free anniversary cake)?
Thanks for the input.

If you call Disney Dining they can help you.

1-407-wdw-dine

If not try the catering at the GF. I know they take special request for cakes

You know there was a whole thread that just had telephone numbers for special cakes - try the "search" button and search phone numbers birthday cake... I thought someone posted there is a birthday cake number... birthday... some number that worked wonders!!

and I definately would stick with Grand Floridian Bakery - those chefs are genius'!! (only drawback you have to be eating somewhere at the GF - but you can box it up if you dont eat it...)

I called the CR directly with the number supplied by Disney dining for my husband's bday party in Feb (sorry I don't still have the number) and since we were on the dining plan they recommended just sticking with the desserts and they would do something special which they did. They created a special bday menu for him with his name, decorated the table and then made a wave of solid chocolate (with his piece of chocolate cake) that said HappyBirthday Dave! onto. They do have special request cakes since they asked me if I needed one. Try calling before the lunch crowd or around 4pm.

Also remind them when you check in at the restaurant that it is a birthday and that you have a special cake just in case. At the CM at disney dining to make a note in the reservation as well.

When you enter the parks, just before you go through the turnstiles, look for Guest relations. Go and ask them for a "Birthday button". Each park has a different one, I made my husband wear it and then my daughter wanted to wear all 4 on her bday 2 days later. It got them ALOT of extra attention including the barber shop group on Main St singing them Happy Birthday. It also makes a great keepsake if they don't want to wear them.

If the b'day isn't your first day at WDW.....when you check in at your resort, go to the concierge desk (formerly Guest Services) and make her aware of your needs. The usual response is that they need 24 hours notice for a special situation (like the sugar free b'day cake.) They will do a great job for you.

When i needed a cake for my DH's bday i had a realyl hard time getting one i called disney dining a hundred times no one knew how to help me, I called the restaraunt no help there...Finally i got some one to help me at the hotel i was staying at (Poly) We ended up getting a cake from the GF bakery delivered to the hotel...Soo it might just be worth ur while to wait till u get to the hotel and ask at the concierge desk.

Were you charged for delivery or just the price of the cake to have it delivered to your resort?

I called the WDW Dine number then they gave me the CR's direct number. That number is the one where no one answered.
I tried again today, and got someone on the phone (she was so nice--thank you Debbi!). Not only did she take the info for the sugar free ANNIVERSARY (not birthday) cake, but she asked me to email her a picture of us so she could personalize a menu for us :teeth:

Now THAT is what I love about Disney.
:woohoo: :grouphug: :woohoo: :grouphug: :woohoo:
