Hello All! I need help. I am planning a trip to WDW in May of "09 for my family, 2 adults and 3 children, ages 13, 12, and 9. They are tall for their ages keep in mind. I can't decide between Port Orleans Riverside or the Jazz Inn Family Suite. Has anyone been to both and could give me some insight of what would be better?

I would choose the Jazz Inn family suite. I have not stayed in the family suites, but have stayed at ASMusic, but I did stay at Riverside when it was still Dixie Landings. I would choose the family suite simply because there will be 2 bathrooms in there and with a family of 5 (we are also a family of 5) that extra bathroom will be a Godsend!!! The Jazz buiding is also closer to the main building (food court, arcade, etc) than at Riverside. Riverside is HUGE and you will have to do alot of walking there before you even get to the parks. My vote is for the family suite.

Hope you have a magical time!!

There are pluses to both. It kind of depends on the amenities you want. Also, you are more likely to find a discount on the POR rooms. The suites are usually excluded from discounts.

POR: better pool, pool towels, two doubles beds and a trundle, rooms may be a long walk from main building/dining, slower busing, hot tub, better in-room theming/decor, boat to DTD

ASMu: more room, two bathrooms, kids sleep on a deluxe fold out, (I haven't stayed there, but they might have to be closed up each day?), bigger bed for adults, one bus stop, more compact resort, rooms are in a good location at the resort, formica counters, theming is 'kid oriented': main pool has Donald Duck, all bus transportation

Also, at ASMu you can use the other Allstar pools, and other food courts for refillable mugs, so that gives your three choices for breakfast. Wallking between resorts is pretty close. At POR, you can share the pool with POFQ and the food court, but they are further apart if better themed. BOth have hot tubs and pool slides. POFQ has one of teh best themed pools on property -but it will take a little while to get there from POR.

Also, while granite countertops may seem insignificant, there is more over all counter space at the mods, and all the decor is more upscale. Nice wood furniture as opposed to laminate.

On the flip side, you lose a lot of time with transportation and walking around POR. It is lush, but long. the All STars offer more direct transportaion and you lose less time walking around the resort getting from place to place.

I have to edit what I said above....If you look on Allearsnet, they show photos of the family suites, and renovated rooms at ASMu. I'm not sure all rooms are renovated, BUT...They look pretty nice. I don't think the furniture is still quite as ornate as some fo the stuff at POR, but it is now wood and granite counters in the suites. Plus, you get a second tv, a living area....cabinets above the mini-kitchen, AND - they've added a privacy curtain outside the bathroom - at least in some of the regular rooms. I can't tell form the picture if the suites have the same curtains.

Also, I relooked at POr pics and the sinks are pedistal style with minimal counter. As I recall now that I see the photos,we used teh second sink as storage space.

I don't understand whay naybody would make a bathroom that way. EVERYBODY has toiletries that they have to put SOMEWHERE!

I like moderates so I would choosed POR but I would also probably go with the other because of the 2 bathroom deal.

You know my opinion--talk to J. about it and let him make the decision, that way, if it's wrong, he is to blame :rotfl: And if it's right, "he's the man". :lmao:

Thanks for everyone's input!:goodvibes We booked today in the ASMu Family Suite. :cool1: I am soooo excited.
