Can't get the DC discount on platinum plan, does this sound right?

We can't get the DC discount on the Platinum add-on plan because we want to stay in a suite.

I know the suites are never discounted but I thought the discount was on the "package" part of the package and not the room.

Anyone have any info?

Janet2k, Didn't you stay in a suite at AKL on the Grand Plan? Were you a DC member and did you receive a discount.

I know we don't get the discount on the room but I thought for sure we would be able to book the package with the DC discount.

Since you're reserving a suite, your package isn't discountable (if that's a word!) The reason is since you have a suite, which isn't available for discounts, and you want a package, there are no individual parts. I know that the silver, gold and platnium are add-ons to the dreammaker package, but with a suite, basically there are no discounts. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that Disney doesn't have the capability to price out each component separately and give discounts on just certain portions of packages, so if you're in a room which isn't available for discounts, all other components aren't elgible for discounts.

My DW and I did the Grand Plan last May and stayed in a suite. No discount because we decided to opt for a suite.

Vbfamily, we have done the Grand Plan twice. Once, while staying in a concierge room in the main building at the GF, and another time while staying in a two-bedroom suite at the GF. If memory serves me correctly, there were no discounts for either one of those stays.
