Can't get excited!

So...it will be our first time @ GF this summer...DH's aunt is treating DD and I to the room (we will be buying our own tickets, etc)...at first...I was excited, but with all the construction talk...I am bummed. Is the construction really that bad??? Should I try to talk DH's aunt into staying somewhere else...I don't want to sound ungrateful b/c it is awesome that she is doing this for us...

Help me get excited about our Aug. trip!

You might want to let your Auntie know about the construction going on at GF. She may not know this.. It may also damper her trip. Staying at GF is not cheap and to see most of the beach blocked off and to see those big cranes and the bulldozers and the noise.. It may be a turn off for her and for everybody. I think it's okay to suggest another resort. I don't think you're being ungrateful if you tell her. All you're doing is informing her and letting her know that there are other resort choices.

I agree with PP. If you let your aunt know all about the construction and how it may disrupt your stay she may suggest a resort change herself. And it's not being ungrateful. You are actually being helpful by letting her know so that it isn't a waste of her money to stay somewhere that may not be enjoyed by anyone due to the construction. In fact she may be upset if you don't say anything about it and later finds out you knew beforehand.

As the PP's mentioned, I would mention the construction to your aunt, and see if she thinks it will bother her. If not, I would not worry about it and just be psyched to stay at the GF. Hey - it's free!!! I would stay at the GF even during construction if it was like 50-60% off, but you're getting it at 100% off!!! If it doesn't bother your aunt, then it shouldn't bother you.

Thanks all! I emailed DH's aunt the info and she can do what she likes with it! I am sure it will be a nice trip, I am just worried about the noise/views! GF is not cheap and I would hate to see her spend all that money and not be happy!
