Can't get Chef Mickey's Dinner

We're going the week of 7/13 and I cannot get a dinner PS. 9:00 is what they had left! I thought I was done making PS's, but then my kids saw the TV Food network special on WDW and wanted to go. We are staying Concierge. Should I have them try now, or wait til I get there?

Certainly have them try now..but we've also had very good luck (even the day of the Marathon when it was packed) showing up at 4:30 and standing in line. I stood in line, my hubby took the grands on a monorail ride. I commented to the gal how dead it was, and yet we had been told no PS's were available. She said she didn't understand it..they had lots of room for early diners.

I would not worry about not getting ressies for dinner. I think you will enjoy breakfast much, much more. I dined there for dinner on my last trip and the food was awful. Haved dined here for breakfast a few times and have been much happier. I may be the minority here, but just my 2 cents worth.

By all means, use the Concierge. A lot of time they are able to get you into places that don't have anything left.

Even if they can't help, keep checking back. Spaces normally open up, so keep checking and grab one.

We've been there for dinner and breakfast, love them both.

make use of the concierge...as said above, they will be able to get you in places that are booked...we once stayed at the beach club concierge level during thanksgiving 2000 and we asked if they could possibly get us a seat at CRT...well, much to our suprise, that night, when we returned from a day at the parks, there was a little reservation note under our door for CRT...we took the reservation and had a great meal...later that day (we had just eaten at CRT) we return to the hotel to find yet another slip with a reservation for the next day...we gave that one back to open up a spot for some other family...
moral of the story...you are paying for the concierge level, make use of the services they offer...

This happened to me for our August visit. I called last week to get a 5:00 - 5:30 pm PS for Chef Mickey's. I was told that was not available. The only one they said was available for a party of 5 was an 8:00 pm and we would have to be split between two tables. Of course I refused (we have young kids). I asked Amy at the BC Concierge if she could try to get one for us. She got us 5:15 at one table on the exact date I had called for the week before. So it can be done. Call, email or fax your Concierge staff.

Walk-ups can also work. People seem to be intimidated about going to places like CM's without a PS. On Mother's Day 2002 our family of five checked into the Dolphin with no dinner plans. Just for laughs we stopped at the Guest Relations desk and asked them to call CM's to see if they had any PS's left. There weren't, but the guy on duty said "Go over there and try a walk-up." On Mother's Day?!?!?! But the guy insisted we oughta try it. We did, and the CM at the podium said "Yes, if you can wait 5 mintues."... even though the place was busy. We did, and sure enough we got in just like that!

I'm trying to get breakfast on July 8th, and having no luck so far. I talked to a nice CM, who suggested I try exactly a week before, July 1st. He said be sure to try on that day. Not sure why, but I'm going to do it anyway. Maybe that will work for you as well.

Yesterday I got my Chef Mickie PS for 18 people - for Tuesday, June 23. I had called many other times and nothing was available. Now that the date is so close, things seem to have opened up.
