You're missing the point. Is this something he REALLY WANTS, or is it just something that might interest him in a passing way? The best thing to do is to put it to him: This is $900. Would you rather have this room, or would you rather have $900 to spend on other fun things?

Perhaps they can afford the $900 and other fun things too. Did OP say they couldn't afford other things if they stay at the more expensive resort?

Also, would the OP even spend the extra $900 on added extras? Sounds like she doesn't want to spend the $900 at all.

OP-We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge one Christmas season and it was absolutely gorgeous. Loved it...

We have a timeshare that we always use for a trade in an Orlando condo when we come down, so we now stay offsite. We have 3 kids and need a kitchen due to one of our child's food allergies. I love staying off site but that is after many trips on site trying out the different resorts. If I was to ever go back to staying onsite, The Wilderness Lodge would be in my top 3 choices. I did not like the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but it is a beautiful resort.

You will love Wilderness Lodge, so enjoy it. The Whispering Canyon is one of my favorite restaurants (I read some one else said they hated it)...that is why the world works so well: we all love different things.

I wish we were going this year at Christmas time!!!

I would not stay in a deluxe if I had to wear ratty clothes, but if your dh really wants to, I think you should listen to why. Talk it out.

Nobody who can afford a vacatio needs to be wearing ratty clothes.That is either a ridiculous exageration or poor shopping skills.
