Here's the situation. It's me, DH, and DD (18 months), and my parents will be joining us for the first few days. We're going for a week, staying at WL. Our choices are Jan 27-Feb 3 OR Feb 10-17.

Jan 27-Feb 3:
Pros: Lower crowds (touring plans says mostly 5's)
Can arrive early Friday
No cheerleaders
Cons: Test Track will be closed :guilty:

Feb 10-17:
Pros: Test Track will be open :teeth:
Cons: Week before Pres Week, bigger crowds (7's and 8's)
Will arrive late Friday night
Cheerleaders ;)

Anyone have experience with going these times during the year? I really want to avoid huge crowds as much as possible. I know the weather will be variable either week, so I don't think that's going to make a huge difference.

I'm sooooo indecisive, but I need to book soon! Please HELP! Anyone!? :earseek:

Of your two choices, we have stayed during the jan 27-feb3 week many times. You are correct about the weather. It could be 75 degrees all week or just 65. I dont think a week either way will make much of a difference weather wise. During both weeks there are chearleading competitions but I did not think it affected the crowds that much. During this week the crowds were not bad compared to other time periods. Some rides you can walk right on, some are a 5-10 min wait if you dont use fastpass. They do tend to take up a lot of space in the moderate resorts though. All things being equal, consider this. Some where around Feb 14 the resorts rates go up (it wont affect you since you check in before that day)for the regular season. This in itsself could mean that the crowds will be a little bigger. I know its nit picking but you have to base your decision on something! You can also call central reservations and see how many conventions are booked at the resorts to give you an idea of the crowds.

I have been both times. Personally, Test Track wouldn't be a make or break part of the decision even though I like the ride.

I didn't think that the crowd difference is that great. When I was there the week before Pres Day the crowds were not bad until the Friday before the start of the long weekend. Even that day wasn't terrible. It was the last day of my trip, which worked out well. I don't remember the cheerleaders being an issue at all.

If you really want Test Track, go in Feb. Otherwise, go in January.

We were there the first week of Feb.05 and incountered no cheerleaders at POR but the parks were full of them. While leaving MK on the Tuesday they were everywhere but they were all behaved and no problem. They actually the year before sang on the bus to my kids on the way to AK.
