We're staying during Easter week (4/8-4/14) and I'm torn between POR and POFQ. We stayed in POR this past June and liked it; room was fine, pool was nice, food court fine. I guess I didn't get any over the top feeling about it for no specific reason, just thought it was a good servicable resort. I really didn't do a lot of research on what building to ask for, since we had a rental car and drove to the park daily. I did think that we were very far from the pool and had quite a walk to get there.

We're now planning our spring trip and my options are POR or POFQ (CBR has no availability w/ AAA rate in standard view).

I think this time, I'd like to be more informed so I can request a building with a better location but while we stayed in AB in June (hoping one of our boys would use the trundle...silly us!), we now realize that we won't need it so either resort is fine.

Can anyone help me decide? I really want the resort aspect nailed down so I can book, then I'll worry about dining and additional code possibilities later.

Thanks.

Janet - are there only 4 persons in your party? If so, POFQ is great. We loved it and are returning again on our next trip. It is a lot smaller than POR (which I loved). There is no sitdown tabel service restaurant but you can take the boat to DTD if you want to eat (or to POR - Boatwrights). Since it is small there are really no bad buildings. Just think if you want to overlook the river, the pool or possibly a courtyard. We asked for waterview and we were overlooking the pool so be specific if you want the riverview.

There's only one pool (with an awesome slide) but you can even share the amenities of POR (they are sister resorts).

I haven't stayed at POR so I really can't base an opinion on the resort. I can just tell you how much our family loved POFQ.

me, dh, and the boys (8 and 3 in April). We had hoped when we did POR in June that one of them would use the trundle so that only one of us needed to share a bed (dh and I cannot sleep together in a full size so we each share with a kid) but neither one would so I slept w/ the little one and dh with the older one.

I kind of liked the idea of switching it up a bit but since I'm not as familiar with the mods (we have stayed CR 3 or 4 times) I love getting opinions of others and their thoughts.

Thanks for answering.

I would try FQ this time since you stayed at Riverside last time. FQ does not have as many rooms as Riverside so the competition at the food court and for buses should not be as great. Plus, you get to try a different resort too. My goal is to "try" and stay at every Disney resort that appeals to me. But I have had a hard time going beyond PO-Riverside so far......

I've never stayed at POR but in Sept stayed at POFQ and I'm hooked. I love the small size, how quiet it is, the pool, the hot tub, the bartender at the poolside bar is GREAT, the food court was pretty good. The little night "club" entertainment is WONDERFUL.. the theming is gorgeous. The rooms are wonderful... I don't know that I could happily switch mods.. I've only stayed at CBR other than POFQ and did NOT like that resort. Didn't like the feel of it at all. You're going to have SO Much fun. If you do a search by my name you'll see a POFQ post I did with photos and a full report.

We have stayed at both. As far as service, they are comparable. As for size...POFQ is much smaller and easier to get around.

However, don't be surprised if you can't even get a ressie for POFQ. It books up quickly because it doesn't have as many rooms to offer and you're going at a busy time. If that happens, come back to me/us and we can help you decide on a better building at POR if you decide to go there.

Even though POFQ is smaller, we prefer POR for the age of our kids. You just need to get yourself in the right building.

Good Luck!!

We stayed @ POFQ last April & will be returning there next April. It's a great resort, pretty, quiet & easy to get around. My DS & I walked over to POR one night and really had a great time. (We didn't realize until later that my DD
was sneaking around behind us taking our pictures as we walked along the river.) If you decide on POFQ, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good luck! :earsboy:

If you have already stayed at POR then I say give POFQ a try, just for something new.

We stayed at POR in the AB section and I fell in love with it, but I would love to try all of the moderates, a different one each trip. Alas, we are a family of five and POR is our only option until we are in a better financial situation. Oh, well. We love POR, so it's no sacrifice, lol.

I feel like you... as far as POR. Was an "ok" resort. But we love POFQ. If you haven't stayed there yet, I would definitely give it a shot. The smaller size is great and you still get all the same things as you would at POR. FQ does not have a TS resteraunt, but it's just a short walk to POR if need be. Our DS loved the pool at POFQ more so than POR. Good luck on your decision.

How old is your son?

I keep going back and forth between POR and POFQ. :confused3

I want to pick POFQ because it's smaller and is the first picked up when going to the parks.

I like POR because someone posted its pools appeal more to teens. (My son is 14).

All of the POFQ rooms appear to be close to the bus stop and main building.

With POR, we could end up in a room far from the main building, or near the last bus stop. :earseek:

Our trip is April 12-23 (during Easter) so the buses and food courts will have huge crowds then. :crowded: :crowded: :crowded:
