I dont know if this is the right board but I was wondering if anyone has a prefrence as to which is better late Oct or early Dec. I have been to the F&W the last two years and am planning next vacation and cant decide if I should go in october to do F&W and MNSSHP or go in Dec to see the holiday decorations and everything for christmas (has never been when Disney is decorated. any suggestions? :confused3

Well I have been a few times in October and always have a fabulous time, but never gotten to see the holidays at Disney, if given the opportunity I would JUMP at the chance. :bounce:

This is why we alternate between these two times. This year was the October trip for MNSSHP and Food & Wine. Last year was early December for MVMCP and Candlelight Processional.

Next year we are planning on going again in December.

I love both times of year, but since you've only experienced one...why not try the other?

I've gone during early December and October. I prefer October because of the F&W Festival, MNSSHP, and the weather is so nice. :sunny: But since you have never been during the holidays, I recommend going during early December. :)
You can't go wrong with either choice though! :wizard:

what's the final days of the F&W? doesn't it go into Nov? the decorations go up for Chiristmas so early - maybe you can hit the last of the F&W & still get the Christmas decorations - but you won't get MNSSHP or MVMCP....hmmm love November w/decorations up (T'giving)....also went early OCt for MNSSHP & had a fun time, but still like the Christmas feel the best.

I have done late Oct. early Nov.
Done MNSSHP.
I have done early Dec.
Never done the christmas party.
We had a great time @ MNSSHP.
I still prefer Christmas time.
I love all the decorations.
Epcot around the world holidays.
Is my favorite.
Seeing all the santas from around the world.
The crowds are low the weather is great.

F&W and Christmas decorations do not overlap. F&W ends mid-Nov, decorations not really up until around Thanksgiving.

Well, this October, you had the chance of getting hit by some hurricane related weather, but usually it is nice then. MNSSHP is great - better than MVMCP, IMHO.

December can get cold, but usually not until later in the month. Still, the decorations are worth it.

If I could do only one and hadn't seen the decorations, I'd do December.

I say GO IN DECEMBER !!

I just went in October and loved the lack of crowds & lines!

So, everybody ELSE go in December.

 (that's not selfish, is it?) :confused3

We've been several times in late October, November and early December and have enjoyed them all.

The Christmas decorations are lovely but late November and early December can be iffy for weather. We have been there a couple of times where it was downright chilly, definitely long trousers and jackets, no swimming. But sometimes you still get warm days.

We were there from Oct. 28 to November 12th this year and the weather was perfect, mid 70's to low 80's the entire time.

So if you want to be more sure of the weather, October is a perfect time. If you really want to see the decorations, but can live with possible chilly weather, do December.

Having seen those famous decorations.....I'd say go in Dec! But go early. There is the Osbourne lights atMGM, the characters are all dressed up in holiday clothes and some parades and nightime shows are more geared for the holidays.

As for oct, I have never been. It does also sound like Halloween is alot of fun but not as festive as x-mas.

We've been both times. Most recently this past October. It was great. I'm finding though I am so sad about missing this December. I love the festivities, and the way EVERYTHING is decorated.

If you've been in October before, I say give December a try!

Definitely December! Christmas time is my favorite time at WDW! It's so magical.

I was just about to post this very same thing. :teeth: We are trying to decide between Christmas and Halloween too.

I work in retail, so there is no way I can take vacation around Christmas, but if I had the chance, I would go in December and see all the Christmas decorations. Even though the crowds will probably be bigger in December, I would still go in December.

This year was our first Fall trip and we loved it. So we were going to plan our trip next year for the Fall again. However on another thread someone posted pics of Christmas in the World and I was so taken by them we changed our plans and booked for Dec. We can't wait to see DW all decorated!

We have been both repeatedly and I say if you never went in December than you must go then. But be prepared because once you start going at Christmas you get addicted to seeing all the decorations. My DS's are already asking about going back next Christmas and were bummed to hear it won't be until Christmas 2007 that we will make it back. princess:

Just remember that it can get very cold in December. We were wearing coats, sweaters, gloves the whole time. It was freeezzzing. :cold: But I still think you should go in December since you've never been during that time. The Christmas decorations are beautiful! Make sure you check out the Gingerbread House and giant Christmas tree at the Grand Floridian. Then at Epcot, there are Holiday Storytellers that are so much fun. And the MVMCP is a lot of fun (even though we had to leave early since it was soooo cold!) :cool1:

Thanks everyone for your help with this and I think that I will try for the last week in November it looks like everything will be decorated after Thanksgiving and the candlelight festival at epcot should be going as well as mickeys parade now all i have to do is get the time off (work in retail as well) as for the cold :cold: I live in Mass so am used to that but thanks for the tip

How cold does it get? We are planning on a trip in 06 for Christmas. I know it will be crowded, but I am so looking forward to going at this time of year :Pinkbounc

We have done both and loved both. If you have little kids, maybe do Xmas first and plan an October trip some other year. Other parks like Universal and Busch Gardens have great Halloween stuff for older folks, and also Epcot's Food & Wine Festival would be more appreciated by adults.
