we stayed at hrh couple of yrs ago and it just wasn't us..but loved the easy walk.. never took any bus or boat..
but pbh looks like more food choices and a couple of pools..what do you like and dislike..

I have stayed at PBH twice and really liked it. The rooms are large and quite comfortable. I was upgraded to a deluxe room on both visits due to my Loews program membership, so the rooms I had were extra large and had huge bathrooms with a seperate bath/shower.

The resort grounds are amazing. Very beautiful and filled with lots of trompe l'oeil details. The Villa Pool is gorgeous and the Beach Pool is very nice as well. There is a third pool, but I have not seen it. The restaurants are good and at night opera singers appear on balconies overlooking the piazza to seranade the guests.

This is a sprawling property, so it may be quite a hike to your room from the lobby. There are, however, entrances interspersed throughout the resort so you need not return to the lobby each time you want to enter and exit.

I have not stayed at HRH, but I have a room booked there in September and I am interested to see how the resort compares to PBH in terms of quality and service.

The hotels are all so different. Portofino has a very "away" feel to it. It is still close to everything but feels like you are in a world apart. We do enjoy the food and the larger rooms. It is just a little further from the parks and citywalk.

I have stayed at all 3 hotels and HRH is our least favorite. We tried it twice and were disappointed both times. I would stick with PBH. It is beautiful, quiet and has the best pool on property in my opinion, and in the opinion of both of my boys.

No matter where you stay, you'll have a great time.

I like PBH better for the amenities and "feel", but now find myself gravitating more towards HRH for the proximity to the parks. We tend not to spend too much time at the hotel, so shortening the distance is a plus for us. Our next stay is in August at HRH....our last stay during August was at PBH, and we found all park transportation options (walking: too far and too hot; boat: pleasant but sometimes too long of a wait; pedicab: too stressful) to be less than ideal. The HRH walk is very easy, and that has tipped the balance. I do miss the breakfast options at PBH and the beautiful grounds, but it's a matter of trade offs, I suppose.

I would pick PB...we have stayed at the Hard Rock and didn't think it was anything special. We prefer both PB and RPR..

We had stayed at the Hard Rock a few years ago and loved it. This year we tried PB. I have to say we prefer HRH. PB just felt so quiet and empty to us. No resort energy. And we stayed in a large suite with a grand piano which was quite expensive, but there was no balcony and the French doors were painted shut anyway! When you come to Florida from Maine in March, you want FRESH AIR. I love Universal, but I was not impressed with PB for the $$.
