Can't book VWL for November

At the moment we have 25 VWL points for our present use year (ends this month) and 25 points for next year, giving a totalof 50 points. According to MS, because we don't have enough points NOW to book for November, we have to wait for the seven month window. Now, I really don't think that's fair as VWL is one of our home resorts. So, in our case there is little point in an 11 month window for this resort. Life's a learning curve - and sometimes comes as a shock. Needless to say I am very disappointed, especially as we can't get a studio at BWV for the same dates.

I hope you banked the present use year points already to the 2002 use year. If not, you will not be able to bank them OR use them in November. The points availalability is determined for WHEN you are traveling, not when you are booking. So if you banked the 2001 points, you should be able to use all 3 years of points (75) for this fall by borrowing. This obviously assumes you've already closed on the WL points. What you cannot do is use your other points now to book anything at WLV for November. though the 7 month window is fast approaching.

Depending on the specifics, you may have gotten the wrong info from MS. If so, you may want to try again and speak to a supervisor if needed. Of course if you didn't bank the 25 points from 2001 or are trying to combine them with non WLV points, you will not be successful. If this is the case, I recommend you do what you can now and book the rest when the 7 month window opens.

you *can* book as many nights as you can afford with your VWL points, and then just try to pick up the extra nights at the 7 month window. Before the 7 month window arrives, you might want to book the other nights you couldn't afford to get at VWL at your other home resort with that resort's points. Then when you get the rest of the nights that you need at VWL, just cancel those days on the other ressie. They should be able to help you with this at Member Services.

I hope you did already bank this use year's points into next year.

Just so you are clear. You can only use your Home Resort points to book at your Home Resort with the 7-11 month advantage.

I'm assuming you have an April Use Year since you say points are expiring at the end of March. You always have to use these (not just make a reservation) before they expire. "Using" means taking a DVC or other vacation or banking them. I'm also assuming you only own 25 points at VWL.

April 1 you will be getting 25 points to use before March 30, 2003. You can call today and make reservations for November that will use those 25 points. You could also borrow points from your April 2003 allotment. (Remember, once borrowed, points can't be put back.) So, you could make a November reservation using a total of 50 points. If you are planning to use points with a different Home Resort priority then you will have to wait until you hit the 7 month mark in April.
