Hello!
I have a T2i and recently have noticed that I am getting the "busy" response when I try to take my pics. It is really slowing me down. Is there a setting that I may have changed and not know it? Any ideas appreciated :confused3

It could be your memory card. Do you format regularly? It could be the battery. Do you only have one or have you tried another? It could be some setting you've changed, there's a couple that might make things seem slower. Or it could be something else. It's one of those things that's hard to tell without having your hands on the camera.

Did you recently switch from JPG to RAW? Shooting RAW would make the file size larger and you would fill the buffer up quicker, slowing down your overall shooting.

I do format quite often almost every time I put a card in. I have 2 batteries that I use. UGHHHH! so frustrating I tell ya!

Keith,
Not Brave enough to try RAW yet! LOL I see your from Elgin! I went to High School there! Recently moved to Florida from Montgomery IL! Also a SOX fan! Small world!

Elgin, Larkin or St. Ed's? LOL, my kids all graduated from Elgin. It certainly is a small world. GO SOX!!:thumbsup2

Check and turn off the custom functions like High ISO, Auto Lighting Optimizer, long exposure, etc.

Aother thing to consider - are you using a card that is rated at least Class 6? I ran into this myself wheni used a high capacity SD cars that was rated Class 4. You can tell by the circled number on the card label. The one that came with the camera is class 6. I started buying higher rated high capacity cards, and the problem went away.

I agree with this comment...check the card.

WOW Thanks for all the advice. I will do a little investigating and see if it helps!
Funny how I meet all these people from IL now that I am in FL! LOL GO SOXS! although I am going to a Yankees/Rays game tomorrow!

I have the t1i and get this-usually it is when I am using the flash indoors-Haven't figured out a way around that rebound time other than to learn how to use the rest of the camera so I don't always have to have the flash. This is one of my biggest gripes with this camera-I had and XS (I think that is the right one) for years and NEVER had this issue but I nearly missed some great shots at Pixie Hollow because of it-thank goodness for the photopass guy who had my back

If it's the flash that's causing the busy signal, then an external flash will remedy that problem.

I used to have that problem with one of the prior Rebels I had. I now use the external flash any time I know I will need a flash (like character meals, character meet & greets, that sort of thing). Besides, there's much more you can do with an external flash and you get a better quality light.

I haven't gotten brave enough to cross over to that world yet. I am totally imtimidated by the ext flash

You can use most external flashes in "auto" mode if you want. No more complicated that putting it on and using the camera in the same fashion as you would use the built-in flash. You almost have to have one with some lenses, as the bulit-in will cast a shadow on the bottom part of your photo.

The only way to get over your intimidation is to jump in and face your fear.

How many times in life have you been intimidated or scared by something, then when you face your fear you realize "hey...it wasn't as bad as I thought"? :thumbsup2

Not OP, but Mine only does this when I use the flash. Guess I need to get an ext. flash now!! Good to know that will take care of the problem.

I hav a Vivitar flash for my T2i and it was pretty good, up until it croaked when only a few weeks out of warrenty. It was a gift and it turned out the salesman sold us a discontinued model. Snce then I learned Vivitar sold their brand name to another company, and they were no help to me.

Today my new Canon Speedlite 430EX II shows up. I can't wait. It gets outstanding reviews and is apparently the best buy for the buck. I'll let you know what I think in a couple of days. Hurry up, US!:woohoo:

Which external flash would you recommend?

It depends on what you want to do with your flash. I have an older 430EX that gives me lots of flexibility to aim and bounce. But it's fairly large and I don't like carrying it at Disney. I added a 270EX a couple years ago mosty for carrying at Disney. It's lighter and has a smaller profile. It does adjust for bouncing, just not as much as the 430EX.

This is exactly what I was wondering.....re: the 270 EX. Have you found the bounce adequate? It only goes up right? How often are you bouncing sideways? I am an amateur who just wants no red-eye and non-harsh looking people shots indoors. Right now I just crank up the ISO, but am thinking a external flash would be better.
