Canon t2i "Busy"

This is exactly what I was wondering.....re: the 270 EX. Have you found the bounce adequate? It only goes up right? How often are you bouncing sideways? I am an amateur who just wants no red-eye and non-harsh looking people shots indoors. Right now I just crank up the ISO, but am thinking a external flash would be better.

I'm not a flash expert by any means. I've really been trying to learn and experiment more. When I do want to try and bounce the flash, I use my 430EX. That one allows me to bounce even with the camera turned for portrait orientation. You are correct in that the 270EX only bounces up, so no go for portrait orientation. Honestly though, I don't see myself ever trying to use the bounce at Disney. (Unless we're hanging with Tigger! :rotfl2:).... but I digress. I really only use it for character photos, and I really don't want to take the time to adjust on the fly. The 270EX gives me just that little bit of fill I need in those situations.

I never thought of that...thanks for pointing it out....I wasn't thinking at all that I might turn the camera sideways and still want the bounce to go up....

another reason I may just buy from a local big box like Best Buy....this way if I make a mistake like that I can just haul it back there for a refund and get the right gear. :thumbsup2

I haven't checked the price lately, but I think I only spent $125 for my 270EX. For that price, it was worth it as a second flash. I leave it on most of the time at Disney. I really didn't like doing that with the 430EX. It never wanted to hang right and the flash kept bumping me in the hip as we walked around. When I went to take team photos for my daughter's basketball team, I used the 430EX. It allowed me full control over the bounce and it wasn't a problelm to carry it in that setting.

WOW Thanks for all the advice. I will do a little investigating and see if it helps!
Funny how I meet all these people from IL now that I am in FL! LOL GO SOXS! although I am going to a Yankees/Rays game tomorrow!

First things first... GO SOX! OK, now onto business.

It's definitely busy as it tries to recharge the flash. As long as you flash is on AUTO, (i.e you are on AUTO), it'll want that flash ready whether it needs it or not. I Use Program mode, and try to avoid flash photography whenever I can.

It you need more flash, check out Central Camera in Chicago for some used EX models. I bought a nice 380EX used a few years ago. Any EX flash should work, and you could save some money on the older models.
