Canon sx130

I am looking to replace my canon a630 camera, 8 mp, 4x optical zoom, digic 2, and thinking of the brand new canon sx130is camera with 12 mp, 12x zoom, digic 4, hd recording, anti shake, smile det, wink, det, etc.

does anyone know if its any good or should i go for another model? I would love a dslr, but cost prevents that right now since the lowest ive seen on that is 500 min. this one is 249 right now and just came out 3 days ago. no stores have it they are all on order, but i can get it online right now.

would this be a step up and should i consider it or look at another one?

I have the Canon sx110 as my P&S and I love it...I ordered the sx130 and it should be here Wednesday. These models are excellent value for the money, IMO. I always get compliments on the pictures that the 110 takes and the 130 seems to be a step up. I'm giving the 110 to my mom.

Once I get the 130 I'll post with my thoughts.

I can't imagine it would be a bad camera, and if you're brave you could try running CHDK on it for some software tweaks. Overall I think you'll be satisfied as I've been happy with most of the Canon cameras I've purchased for myself and family.

You may be able to save a few bucks if you buy the older model, but if you have your heart set, just take the plunge and be satisfied. I went from a digic2 to a 4 and the difference is noticeable. My change was from an S2-IS to an SX1-IS, and I sold the old camera on ebay to offset the cost of the new. Below are a couple of reputable stores that slash prices on the old stuff as the new models come out, and pricegrabber.com is a good place to research prices.
