Canon S3

:cheer2: My S3 is on the truck and on the way here!!!! The wait is killing me!!!:scared:

Okay I just went to Office Depot and I am now the proud owner of the S3!!!! Be prepared for lots of questions!! :)

CONGRATS!!!! :bounce: :cheer2:

I ordered mine from amazon last week. It says it has been shipped & should be here in a couple of days.

Make that 2 disers that will be asking LOTS of ????

Make that 3 dissers with lots of ???s My Office Depot has one on hold for me and verified the price of $279.99. The cheapest I could find it online was $303. I've been researching dSLRs for a couple of months now and had finally narrowed it down to which one I wanted and just needed to figure out from where to order. In the mean time, my P&S that I LOVE (Nikon 5900) died.:guilty: That was to be my backup camera to the new dSLR since I'm sure I wouldn't let DS7 use the "big" camera. Well, I did some MORE thinking... and decided that for the money, I should go ahead and just upgrade my P&S for now. I figure that I will get much more use out of the S3 since it will be much more portable than the dSLR, and I won't have to worry about changing lenses, the amount of $ invested, and wouldn't be as broken hearted if it got swiped. No offense to dSLR owners. I think I might pick up a film SLR to play with at some point. Woo hoo! I'm picking it up tonight! :yay:

I happened to be at Walmart today, and they price-matched Office Depot's $279 sale price, so I got one, too! :thumbsup2

Anyone willing to give me a quick Canon S3 101 Class? I don't like reading the manual! ;)

I got mine in Sept & still haven't read the manual. :rotfl: JUST START USING IT!!!! You can read up on something after if you need to. Have fun!!!!

Well jenr812, where are your first shots? ;) :goodvibes :lmao: :dance3: I would have chased that truck down hours ago. :rotfl:

BTW, DH came home from work....as I was taking pics of the kitchen faucet this time. ;) Good thing our neighbor made pasta & sauce for us for dinner. :rotfl2: I'll post pics after we eat & I decide how they came out.

Well, the UPS guy came at 3:30 and I heard him coming down the street and met him in the driveway. He just delivered the printer yesterday and he already thinks I am a bit "off":rolleyes1

As far as my first pics, I have been reading the manual for a while now like this::confused:  :scared: :crazy2: :faint: Not to mention that DS8 is home sick with another migraine and DS4 is totally stir crazy today :sad2: I have taken a few pics but I've got to do the dishes from lunch before I can try any cool droplet tricks:rotfl:

That's ok. We'll take pics of sick kids, dirty dishes, pets.....whatever you have around. :rotfl: Now stop reading that manual & shoot something. lol

I am also considering an S3 based on these boards, but am wondering about the video clip feature. Does anyone use it? How good is it for catching quick moments (<5-10 minutes). I have a Sony DVD Handycam, but on our October Disney Cruise, I doubt that I will carry both around on the islands. Thanks in advance for your help!

Is this price a regional one? I looked at my past Sunday's Office Depot add and they don't have any Canon's on sale this week? I reread it a few times in case I missed it! I am soo sad! :sad1: I will have to run by tomorrow! Wish me luck.

I called our local Office Depot in Topeka, KS and they said it was on sale (including the $70 instant rebate) for the $279. I'm going to look at it over lunch tomorrow and hope they are still available.

Drumroll please.........

My drippy faucet shots. :rotfl: Kitchen sink with placemat behind with overhead flourcent lighting & flash. Manual focus. Last nights were not.

This one was the best overall. I did crop it in PSE5. Its also possible to make the drip motion a little less blurry & lighten that bad shadow in PSE5, but I didn't mess with it.

(Does this happen to others? Whenever I edit a thread, the first set IMG tags refuse to work correctly & just show up as a link. ???? UGH)

This one was the LEAST blurry drip straight from camera, but unfortunately, the bottom drop was cut off. This was cropped in PSE5.

I've very happy with myself. :goodvibes I never venture out of AUTO or SCENE MODES....and don't know anything about all these fancy terms. But this thread has made it possible for me to COPY others settings. :rotfl: Its ONE way to learn. :dance3: First time using manual focus too. Woohoo!!!

:thumbsup2 WAY TO GO SPLASH!! Good job! But you didn't say how many pics you took before you got this one......took me about 80 before I got a good one.:rotfl2:

Tammie,

I sent you a PM. The video will take awhile to load. Maybe 5 minutes or so on cable or DSL internet.
