Should I save a few $'s by buying a Canon 55-250 IS or spend a few $'s:eek: and get a Tamron all in one 18-250 IS? are all in ones better when you don't want to carry extra lens and some kind of case to carry the spare lens? I normally carry the camera around my neck. :rotfl: Can you show my some photos used with those lens? Are either lens good in low light? Thanks:hippie:

Neither is good in low light. The distortion and vignetting will be higher from the superzoom and the border detail will probably be less.

If you really don't want to change lenses though...the superzoom is fine. But you are giving up something to get the zoom capability.

The Tamron 18-270 is also good and recommended by lens review sites such as www.photozone.de as the best superzoom if you like the wider focal length range
you can see pics of both in the lens archive section here

A lot of people are fine with the trade offs on the 18 to insane lenses. A lot of people are not. It comes down to the user.

I love my Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens. This photo was taken wide open F5.6.

More at F5.6

SLRGear reviews the Canon EF-S 55-250mm and writes;
“The 55-250mm ƒ/4-5.6 is impressively sharp for a ”kit” lens, even when set to its widest apertures. The sharpest performance for this sample is available in the mid-range, when set to 100mm and ƒ/8, where it is tack-sharp from corner to corner.”

wow, thanks everyone. So, will at all in one lens be good for vacations? Thanks what i'm mainly after. I know some people out there don't mind bringing and lugging around multiple lens for the camera.

sure, but the 18-55IS and 55-250IS fit in about the same space as the superzoom. If money is not a concern and you just want to use one lens get the Tamron 18-270IS
