Some disappointments for me:
* No super low ISO modes. I was hoping for ISO 6, 12, and 25. These would be very useful for video when you are essentially stuck with a 60s shutter speed.

* No 1080p60.

* Looks like it is still 4:2:0. I was hoping for at least 4:2:2.

* They traded megapixel count for pixel size. We'll see how much gain there was in pixel quality. I'd like more megapixels, but I'll be OK with the tradeoff if the quality improvements are strong enough.

* GPS and wifi are add-ons

* Cost - $6,800. That's not in impulse buy territory for me.

I'm curious to see what they do with the 5D. I want to upgrade mine. I could go with this or the new 5D depending on the differences.

There are lots of nice improvements.

* No more APS-H.

* Live audio level adjustments without needing Magic Lantern.

* Wider AFE pattern.

* More cross AF sensors. Diagonal AF sensors.

* More configurable, plus two user defined buttons near lens

* Dual CF card slots

I'm most intriqued by the larger pixels sites on the sensor.

It looks very promising. At least I know how much I have to book in side projects between now and then to afford one. :-)

My brain is still shifting exposure values accordingly for the higher ISO range. We passed film at ISO 6400 and we're moving into the area that's really starting to change how we shoot. With speeds that fast who needs night vision goggles? LOL

And now size matters again.

Curious.

It would appear that Canon has decided that 18mp is the magic number of pixels needed for any image. Presumably the 5D replacement will be 18mp - at which point all Canon DSLRs will be 18mp except the entry level T3.

I wonder what Nikons and Pentax will respond with. Those are incredible numbers... not that I know what they mean....

I doubt I would need this for my work since I already own two 5D for my wedding gig...but if one of my cameras happen to break then maybe.

A definitely plus would be the larger photosites on the sensor. Imagine the lowlight shots with virtually almost no noise at high ISO!

at $6,800 I think I'll take a pass on it.
Still waiting for the sub $1,000 (new) full frame

Sadly most full frames seem to be targeted to the pro market so the prices aren't likely to hit $1,000 in the foreseeable future.

I now wonder if Sony will now make a new FF and how they will react to a competitor to their 12 frame per second APS size sensor camera... They were talking about how their 12 fps was only possible by going to a mirror camera... but it looks like canon managed to hit the number with a mirror.
