Canned goods question

I'm not saying one way or the other that I'm doing anything different but, all this talk got we wondering.... Are all canned goods/products safe to eat without any cooking? I mean, are we just used to heating them but, they don't need to be? I can think of several canned items I would never eat without heating/cooking but, if I'm forced to, I might.

And, I DO have a manual can opener, a new one at that!! My old one broke 2 weeks ago. ;)

Thanks.

Well sure. :) I eat canned veggies out of the can without heating all the time (I put them on salads). They're perfectly fine.

I've never had any trouble with canned fruit or vegetables. I like to eat canned vegetables cold every once in a while and they've never hurt me.

What specificly are you wondering about?

Exactly that which you both answered. If heating/cooking were unavailable during some crisis, could we eat canned goods without the 'normal' heating? I thought you could but, like I said, there are some things I couldn't imagine eating cold! But, if they're safe and, I'm hungry, I guess it's ok. ;)

Keep in mind, I refrigerate canned fruit just because I like it cold. :o

Thanks!

I almost hated to admit that I like cold veggies. I promise I am not the origin of the canned corn story! I can't imagine taking a can of corn to WDW unless it was for a meet. LOL! ;)
