The thread was titled "The Weirdest Thing You Ever Saw At A Disney Park"

It was still here when I joined this board but I think it was lost when the DIS changed servers.

This was my favorite DIS thread ever... from the canned corn, the great dwarf battle as they defended Snow White (as told by WillyJ), the wheelchair that flew down the hill and ended in the Rivers of America (the person ended up okay), plus so many odd and embarrassing stories. Pages and pages of funny stories. It was great. Although people have tried to resurrect the subject, those threads have never quite met that one thread.

Along with this, my favorite series of thread (or was it one long trip report?) was that by Dixie Amos.

These threads literally had me gasping for air they were so funny.

I think the wheelchair story was from Beverly Lynn and that was her Grandma. If I'm remembering the story they were happy she was ok and that she got a bath.


Someone found the thread about 5 or 6 years ago and I was up very late reading and woke the family up laughing so hard. Tears and many quick trips the the bathroom happened that night.

Thanks for the replies- I thought maybe someone suggested that they bring corn in the park to save some money, and knowing how excitable some folk are, a war erupted. Over canned corn.

Well, that could have happened in the thread, too.

Although I'm the only DISer, anyone in my family could have answered this question. They know why it's on our WDW packing list!

Yes, old fogies can't have regular canned corn. It has to be creamed or the kernels get stuck in the false teeth.

Back in the day, it was one of those threads that just TOOK OFF.

A fairly mundane topic just caught on fire and became a DIS classic.

I can't remember it all, but I think what bascially happened was that everyone started chiming in with their ideas of stuff to eat from a can at Disney World, and it just got funnier and funnier.

The CB was a lot smaller then, and we all seemed to "know" each other (as much as you can know someone from an Internet message board), which also helped it become a classic.

I remember me and it was the first (not only) time when I thought maybe I'm missing something. I remember Willy being a big part of it and we took a picture of him holding a can of corn during a Dis Meet. I was STILL and that was about 11 years ago!

Do those threads not exist somewhere in some archive or file? I thought at one point, they were saved somewhere, before one of the board's prior moves.

I'm just a lurker not the OP. But I actually saw a child eating corn out of the can. It was probably during the summer of 1992 or 1993. It was when I started going to Disney World. It was before a parade and I remember thinking it was strange, but I never really thought about it again until I saw it on the Dis a few years ago. So it is true. I wish I'd taken pictures.

When I was in middle school, a guy who lived down the street used to stand at the bus stop and eat Beefaroni from the can every morning for breakfast while waiting for the bus.

There was a thread long ago about mouse balls - where someone wanted to know how to clean the balls on her computer's mouse. I think it was still on the servers a few years ago, because it came up in similar type of thread as this one, but now I can't find it for you all.

They were There was a camaraderie that is hard to find these days, and is nice to remember when I'm feeling nostalgic.

I think that people have searched for the corn thread, & even the WMs said they couldn't find it. Rafiki 3 said on the other thread that she has it somewhere & might repost it.

Interestingly enough, we left MK last Sunday about 6 p.m. and as we were driving out of the parking lot, we saw a family of 5 sitting in the grass off to the side under the monorail tracks. They literally had several canned goods that they were sitting there eating. No idea WHAT was in the cans (veggies? soup?) but we were like...you know, there are benches up closer to the entrance...why are they waaaaaaaaay out here in the grass?
