Never used Canjet before.
1)When will I see my Itinerary and E-Tickets with Conf Number (I already have the confirmation from Travel website)?
2)To reserve seats in advance do you need the Itinerary Conf number ?
3)Are Canjet check-in counters strict with the carry on baggage allowance(my bag is very close to the posted allowable limits) ?

Thanks

It all depends on who you booked your trip through and how they do their bookings. If you used a TA (which is sounds like you did), they should have emailed you a copy of your E-ticket receipt and itinerary. If you are accessing your trip at a website (eg. virtuallythere.com) you won't get an email with the E-ticket receipt and itinerary - you need to print it off from that website.

2)To reserve seats in advance do you need the Itinerary Conf number ?
According to their website (https://seats.canjet.com/RetrieveBooking.aspx?Culture=en-US), you need the Confirmation Number, First Name, Last Name, Origin City and Destination City to make your seat selection.

3)Are Canjet check-in counters strict with the carry on baggage allowance (my bag is very close to the posted allowable limits) ?
If they are similar to the other airlines, they will have a luggage sizer at the check in desk. If your luggage does not fit in that sizer, you will have to check it. Be aware though if your luggage does fit in the sizer, and depending on how full your flight is and when you board, you may find all the overhead space is taken and there will be no room for your carry-on, so you may be required to gate check your bag. This is standard with most, if not all, airlines.

Thanks for the response (I guess the e-tickets come later ?)

I would still be interested in hearing from others who have taken this flight (YYZ to MCO) on Canjet as to how strict they were with the carry on bag allowance inspection (my bag is so close to the size stated).
I have travelled with AC,Westjet,Sunwing,Air Transat,Jetblue,Southwest,Air Tran,AA,Delta and US Air........ I have never had my carry on bag weighed or inspected or measured . Just wondered if Canjet was any different.
thx

My DD and I flew with Canjet in May 2009. They were very strict with all baggage. It was the first time I have ever had my carry on weighed and checked for size.

:confused3 drat !
On other airlines they actually give you a total dimension (length plus width plus depth). Do you know if they allow this ?
or
Do all dimensions have to be under the stated sizes ? (as well as weight).

Can I ask, was your bag noticebaly bigger than the stated size ?
Did you notice if all of your fellow passengers were getting checked ?

thanks :goodvibes

I had been warned that Canjet can be sticky about this issue so I went out and bought new carryons for both of us so that they met the required measurements. My trusty carryon that I had used on several different airlines was bigger on one of the dimensions so I didn't want to chance it. They were measured and weighed at checkin. I don't know if this is standard policy or if they do random checks.
The man checking in at the counter beside us was quite upset at having to pay because his checked baggage was overweight. He was travelling with his wife and 3 kids.
On a side note: I was not really pleased with Canjet and wouldn't fly with them again unless I absolutely had to or unless they had a deal that was so good I couldn't pass it up. One of the issues I had was the luggage weights and measurement. With Canjet you are allowed one carryon weighing 22 lbs. and a second item (A coat, camera or purse is considered a second item) and up to 2 checked bags with a combined weight of 44 lbs. With Westjet you are allowed 2 carryons each weighing 22 lbs and 1 checked bag of 50 lbs.

Wee haggis, if you haven't received an email at time of booking I would call. It would have been emailed within an hour of booking. I even called and got pre seated and had that email minutes later.

We flew Canjet to MCO at Christmas time...NEVER AGAIN!!! To say they were strict about carry-on is an understatement! Everyone in the line (at 3:30 am) had to place their carry-on luggage in the "tester" at the check-in counter. If the person checking you in wasn't satisfied with it, she ordered you to check it in. I personally think it's just a huge money-maker for the airline!

Those who escaped checking carry-ons at the ticket counter were warned that carry-on would be inspected again at the gate...and they were, resulting in more bags being checked in. As you can imagine, everyone was in a foul mood getting on the plane. Add to that the fact that there are no snacks (you can have champagne at 9:00am!), and the flight was delayed 45 minutes leaving the airport. I will NEVER fly them again!!! :furious:

Thanks mtmbyck.
Actually, i should have clarified.
I did receive an instant confirmation when I booked online.
When I read the document it mentions that I should be receiving a second email which would contain the itinerary and etickets.

thx

Aarrggh !:confused3
Thats not good to hear.
Can I ask, did you go through the same procedure on the way back from MCO ?
Also, other airlines are more concerned about the total dimensions (L + W + H)
Is this the case with Canjet,or does each of the three dimension requirements have to be met ?

thanks

I'm nervous now too. I booked with AirTransat but they use Canjet for the flight from YUL to MCO. Kids got new carryons for Christmas so now I'll have to measure.

We had only booked them for the flight to Orlando. We flew Air Canada on the way back...I was thankful!

Canjet seems just as concerned about the dimensions (they have to fit into their tester at the ticket counter) as the weight of the bags. They weigh each carry-on bag, something I've never experienced before. My best advice is to get some sort of soft-sided carry on that be manipulated into (and out of) their tester easily. Many peoples' bags were getting stuck in the tester because of the wheels, but that didn't seem to matter to the folks at the ticket counter. They deemed the bags "too big" and insisted on checking them in anyway.

All this concern about the carry-ons had me concerned about the size of the plane. As it turned out, it was a 737 with the regular allotment of overhead compartment storage space. I'm not sure what the issue was...

Good luck!!

Anyone else use Canjet from MCO to YYZ ?
Still wondering if the return journey is as strict with regards to carry on baggage size ?

Yes MCO is just as strict if not worse. They weigh and measure ecerything then charge you for your over weight luggage in US funds!!! I would never fly with them again!! I paid over $200 in in over weight fees at MCO!! Good Luck!! :)

I saw this on the Canjet website and am wondering about this: Do they mean that the 2 checked bags together must not exceed 44 lbs e.g. if one bag weighs 20 lbs, the other cannot weigh more than 24 lbs?? Ugh...at least we're flying Canjet one way only, we are returning via Westjet.

Yes you are correct!!!! :)

I flew to MCO with Canjet last week and had no issues with carry on whatsoever. They didn't ask me to put my bag in the check, nor did they weigh it. One of our checked luggages was even over 2kg... and the woman just told us to be careful on our way back, not to go over, but she'd let us by this time without paying the extra money.

On the way back with Air transat we were so nervous because we bought some artwork and wanted that bag to be considered one of our carry ons but we didn't know if it'd fit in the checker, if they'd allow it... they said nothing about it :) and coming home we were over even more kg for both checked luggages... and the man just told us next time to be careful because we'd have to pay.

Smooth :) It all depends on the person you're dealing with directly... some are lenient... some aren't. Thankfully both ways, we got very accomodating staff!

I have read conflicting stories online as to whether a laptop is considered as a personal item or a carry on ?
Anyone help ?
Thanks

Well I was allowed my purse which is huge and a carryon so I would think a laptop bag and carryon are fine.

We flew Canjet in 2008 & 2009 from YUL (Montreal) to MCO and we never had any problems with our carry-ons. They never weighted them, and never measured them either. I know that we followed their 20 pounds restricition from their website, but they still didn't weight or measure anything. Both flights were wonderful, and the service was great. We also departed on time both times.
