Candy sculpting lady in Japan

We went around the rest of our trip saying, "Japanese candy, present for you! Shiny candy, so sweet."
.
:lmao: I was almost hynotised listening to her this past November.....its well worth taking the time to seek her out and watch her work, her hands go up and down a few times and voila the lump of candy is a flamingo....amazing

We just returned from our trip. The "candy lady" is always a highlight. We got there about 30 minutes before her show and sat down by the ropes. For our show, she chose an adult right at the center of the ropes in front of her. Then she chose a boy on the left, then a girl on the right, then a boy in the next section on the left and then she chose my DD who was in the next section on the right. She seems to go in that pattern. My DD chose a panda bear and it was really cute. We also got a box from the store there so that we could transport it home.

I saw the show this past October with my DGS. We were there 20 minutes early and he was a little quiet and did not get chosen. We went back for the next show and he was not chosen again. We had to leave EPCOT right after this and I managed to get her attention to ask when she would be back again later in the week. She made my DGS even though the show was over because he was a nice and polite boy. It was definitely the highlight of our trip.

You guys are getting me all excited to see this show! I cannot wait....we have tried to see her before but there is always a large crowd around her...is she by the entrance to the gift shop by the stairs still?

DH and I have watched from a distance but now that we are taking our 2 nieces we thought they would like to try and get one made for them. We are planning on a Friday in January...anyone know what times she is out and is there a way to get the girls chosen for a candy?

Really good trick (if you have the time) is be at the show before you want the candy made......when her show is over ask her when she'll be back & she'll ask your child first at her next show.

I love to watch her.....so much fun!

December 7 of last year. I think she gave it to a little girl, which probably isn't you. I could be wrong, though. It's happened once or twice. ;)

How dare you assume I'm not a little girl!! What right do you have to.......oh wait. My avatar is a picture of me, isn't it? Nevermind. :rolleyes1

We also caught her this past November. We too got a big kick out of her commentary as she was sculpting. I couldn't believe how fast her hands and fingers moved to turn the candy into something. My friend and I kept saying "for you" the rest of the day. She is truly amazing! We saw lots of kids get one of the candies. I bet I saw at least 5 and we got there after she had already started.

DW and I were lucky enough to have her make us a green macaw. It was absolutely beautiful. Sadly we left it in the rent a car when we went back to the resort and it melted into a green blob.

Hmm, I guess you could be a little girl...you Texans do look kind of weird. :lmao: Sorry, just saw you were from Dallas and had to do it!

My trip last month was my first time seeing her and I really enjoyed myself. She is too cute! Very talented and I loved her commentary.

lol. I've never heard that one before. Of course, I don't have to deal with winds that come sweeping down the plain. Or waving wheat. Or hawks making lazy circles in the sky. I'll stop here, before I go singing the entire score. (I've done the musical twice).

Once, in high school. They play the Pride of Oklahoma's version every day at 5 on one of our radio stations. :upsidedow

So, I had no idea manatees were so popular with Miyuki. Someone asked for a fish while we were there, but she made a seahorse instead. She also made an AMAZING dragon!! I would have stayed for the whole thing, but the little one was dying to get in the store and look at (aka con gramma into buying) the toys.

^lol. I watched part of the next one (Flamingo I think), and then I was like, "Let's go, I've still got like 5 countries to eat at!!". I plan on eating around the world this trip too. If I can fit it in. I think I can. Woo, food!!

We'll be grown-ups only in this trip, so we'll be drinking around the World. ;)

^Ah. I don't do well with alcohol. I'm already a warm natured person, and alcohol just makes me hotter. And I'll be there in June. So that equation doesn't work too well. I do plan on trying the Grand Marnier slush this time though! :thumbsup2

I didn't even know about this lady (we missed most of Epcot), but that looks awesome. I used to love watching glass blowers, but to think art you can eat! Yum. :goodvibes

We had a beautiful hummingbird made...lasted for a long time in our office standing up in a pencil holder.
We went on vacation so the air was off in the house & the hummingbird was a hot taffy ball in a plastic ball when we returned.....
