Candy canes? Any info?

I was excited to try the candy canes, and while it was fun to do once, I don't ever need to do it again. They're big, and they're pretty, but I didn't think the taste was anything special.

There was no mad rush to get wristbands the day we went. In fact wristbands for the later batches were still available when we went back to pick up our candy canes (10:30 am IIRC). I'm sure that varies from day to day though.

My sister and I had the same experience a few years ago. I'd never gotten a candy cane because I don't care enough to stand in a line for one, but we walked into DCA from GCH and were passing the candy store when a CM asked us if we wanted a wristband. We decided to try them since it was new for us. There didn't seem to be any rush to get the wristbands but, in fact, they began handing them out during the early entry time which seemed a bit unfair to me. However, later when we went back to get our canes, they were still handing out wristbands with no particular rush for them.

My sister loved hers--said it was really buttery and good although it was much more like a standard candy cane later, when it wasn't so fresh. I saved mine for a friend and never tasted it.

The next year we went to get one (my sis and I make an annual Christmas trip in early Dec) and we were shocked that they'd already given out all of the wristbands almost immediately. I wonder if it's because that was in Disneyland? Maybe people don't rush for them in DCA like they do in DL?

This year we want to try and get one again. I think I need to taste it :)

Incidentally, I've never had a DL candy cane. I've been off sugar for approx 28 years (personal choice, not medically necessary). But I spoke to a couple that was eating canes last year. They said they were amazing. And they were still warm (the canes, not the couple. Although I presume they also were :-)).

This kinda throws my plans off.. I was hoping for a Dec 4 and 6 date so that if we didn't get one on the 4th, we could use the 6th as a back up. We have a plaza inn breakfast on the 5th at 840am and then are gonna head to DCA when it opens, but not really line up for rope drop. I would love if we could stumble upon them that day, but I'm not banking on it. That leaves us with one real chance to plan and get one on the 6th.. wondering how early before rope drop we should line up for one to almost guarantee we can get in that line and get a wristband.
