Candy Cane Shortage

That’s interesting. I did notice less holiday candy in stores, but thought maybe it just wasn’t fully out in stores yet. Though I did see some candy canes at both Walmart and Dollar Tree last Wednesday. Even the smaller sized ones.

I was in Walmart and Dollar Tree also and saw lots of candy canes. I didn’t notice the brand as I wasn’t looking for them. In Walmart it caught my eye as I was a huge display near the front of the store.

I didn't know about this. I usually only buy a couple of boxes, but will have to get them early, just in case!

The instagrammers have been flooding my feed with the crafts you can make out of them, too. Everyone and their brother might be on the hunt for the supply that was made.

I was in Walmart last week, and they were just putting stuff out. Plenty of candy that I saw, including candy canes. I wasn't buying candy this early--you know darn well, it wouldn't survive in December--but I specifically saw candy canes. I noticed the cinnamon ones--DH loves cinnamon, but I think the rest of the family would revolt if I tried to sub in for peppermint. I'll be sure to get some early on. Just, not this early--we have a strict "Thanksgiving first" rule on most Christmas items. The only exceptions are me making sleep pants--I'm making 10 pairs this year, and already hit the JoAnne Black Friday sale for flannel and fleece. And I bought some Lindt peppermint dark chocolate candies, because DS16 and I just love them, and they're seasonal.

Caught my eye in Walmart yesterday also. They had two pallets of them sitting in the aisle waiting to be stocked on the shelves. But I always thought of them as decorations, never really thought about people actually EATING them.

Same with our Walmart last week. They had just started filling the seasonal candy row with Christmas candy. I did see candy canes, but so far all they had out was sour patch ones ,, I don't mind sour patch candies, but I don't want my candy canes to taste like them. I am going to look tomorrow and see if they have the shelves fully stocked and pick up a couple of boxes of peppermint ones. I use some when I make peppermint bark, we use them in hot cocoa all winter, and I put them on our Christmas tree.

They're actually pretty tasty of you like that sort of thing. You must be patient enough to suck on them rather than chewing them up (they stick to your teeth like crazy.)

I don't have the patience to eat something that tales a 1/2 hour to finish...*although* now I remember my sister and I use to suck on the bottom of candy canes until they were pointy and then run around trying to poke each other.
