Candy Cane Inn?

Where did you get the $10 coupon for return guests?

It was emailed to me right after my stay, I want to say within 24 hours but might have even been within a couple hours after check out. They give you a personalized code that you can use with in a year, 2 years for foreign guests. If you never got it I would give them a call as I think they keep records of it as when I gave them my code she had to look it up and had an issue finding it at first. I want to say I still had my reservation confirm from the first stay and she was able to find it that way.

It's explained at the bottom of the page

I was there for 9 nights last Aug too, from the 16th to the 25th

We’ve stayed in that area. I hated it, plus the cost of a rental car and parking fees must increase that room rate.

Oh I have to have a rental car no matter what. I am going to Huntington Beach to swim, In-N-Out Burger, Porto's Bakery for Cuban sandwich and pork tamales, etc

I stayed at CCI for the first time in November, from the UK, having stayed at Paradise Pier once before and decided I couldn't justify the huge cost for the Disney hotels on this occasion. I didn't know what to expect, having chosen it out of the myriad of other options in the area, but it was absolutely fine. A bit motel-ish but I suppose all the hotels in that area are pretty much samey.

Comfortable, clean, pretty grounds, nice staff, nice all-you-can-eat breakfast in the morning (if you're not wanting a cooked breakfast), 10 minute walk to the parks (less than Paradise Pier). I took the shuttle once on the first day but decided afterwards it was no benefit really. The only small pain was the Disney-only road you have to cross where you could be waiting a few minutes. (I got annoyed when some obvious locals walked straight past me and across the road while the light was on red, and I heard them muttering something about why don't people cross when it's obviously OK to do so...but being from the UK I prefer to cross when the light tells me to as I have no idea what the protocol is and where vehicles have the right to go on certain lights!)

I was on the ground floor about halfway down, I found it slightly noisy when people were walking past and getting in and out of cars and also could hear quite a lot of bumps from upstairs, so I think I would have preferred a second floor room.

I have no complaints and I think I will probably go there again next time (it might be my final trip so I don't know yet if I'll splash out on a Disney hotel) but I thought better the devil you know rather than trying another hotel which may or may not be better and may end up not as good. Why bother fixing something if it aint broke.

I was on my own and did not have a car.

I think being that that road is limited access a lot of people know where the cars are coming from and will walk against the light. I know I have done it a few times where there were no cars in site, usually getting a jump and timing it to walk 10-15 seconds before it turned. But I didn't mutter at people :)

What unnerved me too was the size of these roads, I mean it takes hours to walk across that opening! Once you've started, you're committed and a sitting target. I'm used to smaller roads here...

That's for sure. I would not even think about doing it at either Harbor Blvd or Katella.
