Ok, I just discovered this place as I was all set to reserve at DLH... Can I get some opinions on this place? Would it be much further from parks than DLH? The pool looks disappointing but other than that it looks nice.

Your thoughts and opinions would be great...

thanks

Here are a couple of threads on the CCI that may be helpful:

I stayed at the CCI & like it (alot). Loved the free breakfast. Loved the dedicated shuttle that i (easily) took for my mid day break (coming & going) each day & took the shuttle one morning & two late evenings. (but did the 10 min. walk two mornings & one evening as well)

The pool is nice.... but small & non-descript. I've heard folks say the rooms were "smaller".... but no problems for our party of 3.

If resort type swimming is important, then I'd opt for the DLH, GCH or Hojo, but if a non descript pool will do, then i highly recommend the CCI for the reasons given above & reasons given in the two links above.

I agree 100% with Hound. :) The room we had was a little small and it was loud, we were on the end near the road, not a room I'd chose again. The nice part it was right next to the shuttle pick up and drop off spot. :)

I just have to chime in and say that we LOVE the Candy Cane and actually really loved the pool area! It is a decent size, really warm, and surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers. The hot tub is large and under a covered patio area. It also has a decent sized wading pool for toddlers behind the hto tub area. We also really like the HoJo but the pool temperature is freezing!

The Candy Cane's pool area is not resort like but then none of the off site properties are except for possibly the play area at HoJo's. As Hound said, the free (and really good) continental breakfast as well as the shuttle makes the Candy Cane hard to beat! :goodvibes (unless of course, the Entertainment Rate is available at HoJo's....that changes everything!!!)

Kathy

P.S. I think we really like the warmer pool temperature because we tend to visit DL in either late fall or early spring when we are frozen from the Utah snow and just want to enjoy an outdoor heated pool!

Stayed there multiple times with 2 kids, 3 kids, and 45 kids (band trip)
Never once had a problem. Loved everytime I stayed there. Walking distance is fine in case you don't want the shuttle or if it is full.

Love the Candy Cane...Have stayed there many times as well, mostly because the free breakfast and shuttle make it hard to beat! The pool IS small, but it is pretty. That said, we are going to try HOJO for our trip at the end of the month because of the pool/water play area and 3 of our 5 nights are entertainment rates...but I know I'm going to miss the shuttle!

I stayed there 16 years ago and loved it. I'm staying again next week and I can't wait! The only reason it's taken me so long to get back there is because I now live fairly close to DLR and don't usually stay in a hotel when I go.
