We were thinking about staying there for our next trip in July. I am sure some of you have stayed there before, did you like it? Is hojo's better? Also, does anyone know of any discounts for this hotel? Thanks :goodvibes

When DH and I go we stay at the Candy Cane whenever we can otherwise we stay at HoJo. The HoJo is fine but I love the Candy Cane, the beds are comfy the rooms are nice and the shuttle is great. I am really just more comfortable at the Candy Cane and it makes for a better trip. As far as discounts the either click on the special link on the reservation page or if you call you can get a AAA discount.

We always try for the HoJo first but the CCI is our second favorite. They have a free shuttle, free breakfast and the rooms are nice. Discounts, when I called they only had AAA and when I made my ressies there were none left so we paid regular price.

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn once a few years ago and really liked it! The rooms are nice, beds are comfy, and the private shuttle is great! They offer a very nice breakfast as well. The pool is pretty small, but not a big deal. It is right next door to an ABC Store and 7-11 as well, which was nice.

The Candy Cane is my favorite offsite motel. It's very nicely decorated, comfortable and convenient. There's plenty of parking, and the grounds are landscaped beautifully.

I like that there's a free breakfast that's enough to tide you over until lunch, AND that, even though it's an easy walk to the parks, there's the free shuttle option for when you are too tired to walk.

The only discount I've ever gotten there is a AAA discount. I also got upgraded to a premiere room once when I went on a trip with three friends for one friend's 50th birthday. I think they just liked us. ;)

I have never stayed at HoJo's, so I can't compare it. But the breakfast and shuttle would win it for me.

DH and I stayed at Candy Can Inn for our first trip to DL. We really liked it alot. The room was nice, the beds were super comfy and it was a short walk to the parks which we liked. We also used their bus with no problems. We would definately stay there again.

it would be unfair for me to comment between the two. I've never stayed at ho-jo's. however from the numerous positive comments on these boards - i'd sure give them a try.

we just got back from a long weekend - spending two nights at CCI. we would stay there again - and again. We felt like we were returning to a little oasis. You turn off of a busy street…and are just amazed how peaceful and serene CCI is.

Everyone of the hotel staff are friendly and helpful…from the front desk – persons setting up/cleaning in the breakfast area – shuttle drivers…to those manicuring the grounds.

Our room was nothing fancy…very clean and we felt safe. The rooms were quiet.

It was nice to have a small refrigerator. You are next door to a small market (ABC) and a convenience store (7-11) --- a very-very short walk…

We were able to walk to the park in 7 or 8 minutes…it almost was not necessary to have a shuttle van. However, after a long day in the park…very welcome to save your tired and aching feet.

All in all…from the positive comments about ho-jo’s…we might try them…however….if you ask my Dbride….she’ll want to stay at CCI – again. Who am I to argue.

fyi, there are fridges in the HoJo rooms and the hotel has a small convience store on site. :) For me the biggest pull for HoJo is the Ent Rate, the biggest pull for CCI is the free shuttle and free breakfast. :)

I love the Candy Cane Inn. I have stayed there many times and have been pleased. The Candy Cane offers AAA and AARP discounts.

HI there, i have stayed at the CCI and the HOJO and loved them both...

candy cane inn was beautiful, nice rooms, and a decent continental breakfast...
We were there 10 nights and used the shuttle maybe 3 times....it took longer to take it than to walk most times but was still nice to use...

Hojo is also very nice, great rooms, no breakfast...it seems to be closer to all the restaurants...cci seemed far away for some reason(really isnt though)..the pool is great here, bigger than cci (but they have now taken out their main pool)..staff at cci was good, hojo was amazing...

Both are great...we are going in may for 10 nights, and we have chosen the HOJO...10 nights for 864 dollars is enough savings over the cci so it was an easy choice for us...

You will not be disappointed with the CCI...it is truly great :cool1:

We were just at the CCI a few weeks back....they had just replaced the carpet and linens in our room (premium). We've never stayed at Hojo so I can't really compare the two, but we're always happy with Candy Cane. When we aren't in the resort hotels, we only stay there :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. We do not have AAA so I guess we can't get a discount. So it looks like we might be staying at HOJO's again. I liked Hojo's overall I just hated the walk back at the end of the day with a tired baby.

In case you were walking along with the other hordes of people on the hotel side, try walking along the park-side of Harbor.

When you leave past the security tables, instead of going with everyone else along the right side of the ART buses and such, go left. This is a pictorial, though perhaps skimpy, report on how to get out and away from everyone. Note that after just a few pictures, that post shows the way *back*, under the asterices. Because I showed both ways in one post it got confusing, whooops!

Anyway, you go out towards the left, cross through where the taxis hang out, and then you just walk up Harbor on the quiet side of the street. That keeps you from the people jams (like traffic jams but on foot) and it's just a tiny bit faster. Then you cross over Harbor at Manchester, then cross Manchester to get to the HoJo parking lot.

It's a little scary, doing that way the first time, b/c you wonder "did the person who told me about this steer me wrong? will I be arrested? am I doing something stupid?", but then you realize it's fine and you can move faster without bumping into people, or slower without people bumping you, and it's excellent. :)

We walk the way Molly described just about every time. It's a lot faster, takes us about 7-10 min. The 10 is normally after being at the parks all day/night and we are walking back after midnight with achy feet.....lol
