Candy Cane Inn or Camelot Inn and Suites?

Hi - going for my 2nd trip to DL. It's a solo trip for only a couple days. I'm looking for something clean and very convenient. Any upsides to one over the other? I stayed at Park Vue last time and enjoyed it. Other than their horrible breakfast - everything was very nice and only a 5 minute walk from the park. But, I'd like to try a new hotel this time. Thanks!

I am going solo in April/May. I chose Candy Cane Inn (my family's go to is Tropicana). It's a farther walk but they have a shuttle that runs every 30 mins to and from the park- I'll use this at night while walking in the morning. Free parking at CCI, free breakfast, great reviews on TA, etc. Seems like a great choice for solo travelers.

Why just those two?

Plenty of other options in the area, many of them new...

Across the street from the Candy Cane Inn, you have the Hyatt House, Springhill Suites and Residence Inn (Katella). Also the Desert Palms and Alpine Inn are nearby, as is the Hotel Indigo and Super 8 on Katella.

Also the new County Inn and Suites.

If you are looking for a good deal with a basic Motel, I like the Quality Inn on Manchester.

Camelot doesn't have breakfast, but McDonald's is right next door. My daughter and I stayed there and it was fine. Nothing fancy, but it felt clean and the walk felt safe, easy. I would stay there again, although normally we're WorldMark. I didn't like having to pay for parking in addition to room cost, but I think that's fairly normal-some you do, some it's added in to cost of room.

My trip is close to spring break so there are a lot that aren't available when I'm going. Candy Cane is $179 a night and Camelot is $159. So, I wouldn't want to go higher than that. Is Camelot the same walking distance that Park Vue was? Thanks for the feedback!

At the big crosswalk coming back from Disneyland-Park Vue is across the street to the right by just a bit, Camelot is about a block to the left. Maybe three or four hotels down (I didn't count). Easy though.

We really like Camelot. It is a shorter distance than Candy Cane, but a little further than Park Vue (since Park Vue is almost next to the crosswalk, Camelot is about 3 hotels down from the crosswalk).

Camelot is a clean, safe, nice hotel. The staff is all friendly, the housekeeping are really nice. You can even view the fireworks from the balcony "walkway" just outside the door. No breakfast, but they do have McDonald's right next door. I would choose this one over Candy Cane because of proximity (and it's $20 cheaper/night... more money for in the park ).

I stayed at the Camelot and loved being so close. We saved money as we had groceries with us so we bought less in park. This place is very basic, but everything we needed. Like you we were limited in what was open when we booked it and I was happy we picked this one.

I love the Candy Cane Inn. The grounds are beautiful for a motel, the breakfast is nice (expanded continental), they have their own private shuttle and free parking. DH and I usually walk to the parks, but we love the free shuttle option after a long day.

The Fairfield Inn is next to Camelot, so a quick walk across the street. Fairfield Inn does not have breakfast either.
If the pricing is similar, I would pick the Camelot or Fairfield Inn because they are a closer walk. Have fun!

I haven't been yet, but DS 21 and I decided on the Camelot Inn, and Suites and we'll be staying there this Tuesday thru Friday. I narrowed it down to a few places (proximity to parks, reviews of comfy beds (comfy beds are a really big deal to me)) and then had DS pick from those based on photos, etc. He liked the look of the little pool area with pool and Jacuzzi (With the weather, I can't see us using the pool, but I can see him using the jacuzzi for a little bit each day when we go). If night time fireworks are on, guests can see those from the pool deck too. Unless it's the Embassy Suites (love breakfast there big time) those motel breakfasts aren't something we've overly excited about or look for, so that wasn't a factor for us. I can report back next weekend too after I have actually been. Note that there is a parking charge at the Camelot Inn and Suites.
