So, I know you can drink your way around the World (Showcase) but can you "candy" your way around?

We have little ones, and I am a lightweight drinker anyway, so I want to know what your favorite candy is in each of the World Showcase countries, and do they all have candy? DH and I are hoping to spend more time in WS than we have in the past and figure bribing the kids with candy might do the trick. (Hey, everybody's got to live a little on vacation, right?)

So, list your favorites and where you get them. :flower:

It has been awhile since I went, but I remember that DH and I got a little something from each country's gift shop. In most cases it was candy or chocolate. I think in one country we got a bag of chips. We didn't eat them there. We stashed the goodies in our suitcase and ate them when we got home.

We tried a candy in Norway that I had heard about on these boards called Smor Buxx. They were wonderful-like a chocolate covered caramel type of thing......yummy!!
Neat idea...candy around the world. :flower:

They have a great candy selection at Mitsukoshi Dept Store in Japan. Also, one of the UK shops has yummy English chocolate - much better than ours here. Oh! And that shop in Germany sells a bazillion kinds of gummy bears. Man, I've eaten a lot more candy at Epcot than I thought........

When we were there in March we were able to find a type of candy in each country. But beware, some if it is not that tasty (Some kind of fish candy in Japan?? BLAH??) :flower:

MMMMMMMMMMMM Smorbukkk.....

Be forewarned that you will be hooked for life. Disney sells them for $8.25 a bag, they are about $3.50 a bag if you can find them elsewhere.....

I add a vote to the Norway candy Smor Bukk...really good! Japan has lots of candies I have wanted to try but haven't gotten to yet...they have a huge selection though.

I don't know what it tastes like, but the candy lady sure made it look good. She made the taffy into a "flying dragon", was really neat. Not sure I could eat that.

And since the Reber chocolate factory was literally in my backyard in Bavaria, I need to recommend Reber chocolate in the German pavilion...... it's pretty tough to find otherwise in the US, unless you visit Cost Plus World Market.

Plus, you can bribe them with the face mask :) Ours LOVED going around to the different countries and coloring their mask and getting a stamp from that country on the stick and a new decoration/die cut tied on it.

It was fun and at the last country they got a poster :) for filling up all their stamps and visiting each country.

Well, you see, we have tried that, but I have two arts and crafts averse little boys who have no interest in spending much time on that. Besides, Daddy likes the candy idea better too! :rotfl:

Fabulous ideas so far!! Keep em coming. I am actually looking forward to trying some stuff I am pretty sure we won't like. It's a cultural experience!

One of my favorites is from Japan. It's a small white box that has a hard candy in it, what makes it so special (or so I thought when I was a kid) is that the candies are wrapped in rice paper. You eat the candy paper and all. Very novel for the young'uns.

May I suggest some Rice Candy from the Dept. Store in Japan! That is some good eats! They have lots of really unique candy there! (Don't miss the shrimp chips, too!)

When DD was younger and not that crazy about WS, I got her an Epcot Passport kit. That did the trick. She had a great time going from country to country getting her passport signed.

:confused3 My bad, just trying to throw some ideas out their since some people don't know about the mask making kids stands.

If you are a chocolate lover, you must get a Galaxy Bar in the shop in England at Epcot - very creamy and chocolatey.

Italy has really yummy individually wrapped chocolates and boxes of fruity hard candies! I love the maple sugar candy from Canada too!

Poky (sp) from Japan - yum!
Also - anything chocolate in Italy.
I did this for a gift for someone once - they loved it!

Have fun!

Does Mexico sell candy? Prob. not if they do it would be chocolate, jtlyk the chocolate is sugarless, found out on trip to Mexico

Rice candy from Japan (comes in boxes & yes you eat the inner paper)

Boki (sp?), the milk chocolate version also from Japan.
