Walt Disney World has announced (7/4/06) the names of several entertainers tentatively scheduled to appear as narrators for performances of Epcot's 2006 Candlelight Processional, the annual retelling of the story of Christmas that features a mass choir and a full orchestra. Celebrities scheduled to appear (no dates for appearances given as yet) include:

-- Cuba Gooding Jr. (Oscar winner for "Jerry Maguire")
-- Maureen McGovern (Oscar winning singer and recording artist)
-- Kirk Cameron (from television sitcom "Growing Pains")
-- Gary Sinese (from television's "CSI: NY" and also your CapCom in the Mission: SPACE preshow)
-- Rita Moreno (Oscar winner for "West Side Story" and from television's "Oz" )
-- Marlee Matlin (Oscar winner for "Children of a Lesser God" and from television's "The West Wing")
-- Stephen Curtis Chapman (Christian music's most decorated artist)

I'd love to see Cuba, Marlee or Gary perform this during my upcoming stay. Fingers crossed!

Just don't give me Phil Donahue again...just didn't care for him at all. Now, Heather Headly..she was awsome!!

Just a FYI.

No CP packages available yet. This info was posted a few days ago on a previous thread and I called right away. Even though this info has been put out they still will not be able to do ressie until August.

Thanks for the info, I hope we can see Gary Sinese too!!

I've seen Gary Sinise and Rita Moreno and enjoyed both. Rita really gets into the music, sings with the choir and dances. Gary takes it more seriously, but what I liked was that he takes time to shake hands with the kids in the choir. My cousin's daughter sang there 2 years in a row and she said he made a big impression on the kids by taking the extra time to thank them.

DH and I saw Marlee Matlin one year. It was different and very effective. She signed the narrative portions while another speaker read the words. The usual interpreter (not Marlee Matlin) did the signing of lyrics during the vocal music. At the conclusion of the performance, Marlee Matlin spoke to the audience a bit as she thanked everyone and shared her thoughts.

We saw Phil Donahue last year and thought he was excellent - great voice.

We also saw Haley Joel Osment and his voice wasn't loud enough. Although we did see him in the hall at the BWV and he was very pleasant.

Stephen Curtis Chapman was good. I am not an overly religious person. Well, not really at all, but I was raised going to church, Saunday school, youth group... Stephen does the reading like he means it. Very good.

I suspect we'll have to see Kirk Cameron once Holly finds out... :)

I liked Phil Donahue. I have also had Marlee Matlin and John Tesh. Both of them were good. Had some others, but their names escape me. I don't recall disliking anyone however.

Also saw Marlee Matlin last year. The gentleman that did the voicing was Jack Jason who works with her on TV. I believe he is an interpreter. Hers are actually the shows where the regular interpreters get a break. The shows where the narrators speak the regular interpreter does everything. Narration and songs. And they all are incredible.
Would love to see Marlee Matlin again or Steven Curtis Chapman. Or both.

We really liked Rita Moreno and sat in a rain storm to see her, it was awesome. Most of the ones we have seen have been good..however we did not care for Brian Dennehy at all several years ago.

In 2002, I saw Edward James Olmos perform and he did an excellent job! :thumbsup2

In 2003, it was Andy Garcia and he was fantastic. :cool1:

Both gentlemen totally got in to the whole show and did it such justice.

We saw Stephen Curtis Chapman and thoroughly enjoyed the entire performance, I am getting goose bumps sitting here thinking about it.

I saw Lou Diamond Phillips last year and he was good. This was my first time seeing the CP and just loved it. I remember one year while at DTD they did the Living Nativity and it was so good I wish they bring it back.

Rita Moreno do it - twice! She was fantastic but the next time I want to see a different celebrity. I HATE that I didn't get to see Joshua Morrow, Nick from the Young and the Restless. Did anyone get to see him - I think it was 2 years ago. I would like to see Gary Sinese or Cuba Gooding Jr. Oh, I'm lying - I saw someone else - Phylicia Rashad! She was absolutely wonderful! I forgot about that because it was years ago. At this point we're not planning a holiday trip, but you never know. For the last 2 years we've gone over Thanksgiving for a short trip (4 nights) to kick off our holiday. I guess that could happen this year. We're not ones to plan that far in advance so I probably won't know until September or October.

We saw Rita Moreno and thought she was AWESOME!

See, I didn't like Phil Donahue, while others thought he was wonderful!!! I guess it really is true that there is always going to be someone who likes what you dislike. We had David Ogden Steirs in '03, Heather Headley in '04 and then Phil last year....after Heather, I should have realized it was going to be all downhill. She was sooooo wonderful. Even David Ogden Steirs was much better than I had thought he would be.
So, I guess I'll end up with whomever I get and enjoy it. It's such a beautiful, moving show in the first place.

You guys are just making me more psyched to see this for the 1st time in December! Can't wait!!! :)
