ive just read somewhere that as well as guaranteed seating for the show, if you book a candlelight processional dinner package (done : check!) that you also get reserved seating for illuminations. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?!

This was not the case when I did it in 2014. I can't see it being the case now either.

You used to get a reserved viewing spot (not seating) for illuminations - can't remember whether it was offered last year. TBH never bothered with it.
