This will be our first trip in December and would like some additional information on the Candlelight Processional. Would a 10 year old enjoy this? How long does it last? What exactly is it?

This event is held in an outdoor theater, across from the American pavillion in WS. You enter, get seated. Then at the start, choruses from the area, march in, in robes holding candles. They are singing. They march up onto the stage, where they go to either side of the stage, with a full orchestra in front. Then, Disney CMs enter, and for a human Christmas tree. There will be a celebrity narrator. The narrator reads parts of the Christmas story, with a particular Christmas/holiday song sung by the massed choirs. Then, another reading, more singing. It goes on this way for about 40 mins. It is really quite beautiful. My Christmas isn't complete without at least one performance.
Now...will a 10 y/o enjoy it? Hard to say. My 10 y/o dd loved it, but she attends church, and loves music...so not much new or different there.

Basically it's the telling of the Christmas story with musical interludes. Very moving, very beautiful.

I think she would definitely enjoy it. She loves music and Christmas! Is this a free event and it is held once a night?

We being my dh and I did this last December I would say its a little to long to hold the interest of a 10 year old. Plus you need to line up before the concert starts I think I would skip it until he or she is older , we enjoyed it but as far as kids go I really think they would tend to be bored by it. I believe it was an hour and a half long.

Here's a link to information on the Candlelight Processional:

The information on the dates and narrators are from last year; it's supposed to run from Nov 27 - Dec 30 this year, but I don't know when they'll announce the information on the narrators.

If you are not doing a dining pkg that includes seating, you need to line up early.Sometimes( depending on when you go) as early as 90 mins before showtime. They take ALL the dining pkg guests FIRST. Whatever seating is left they allow stanby guests in. It is not unusal for dates later in December to line up for the show and still not make it in the theater at all .
