Candlelight Processional question?

Okay I had ZERO interest in doing the Candlelight Processional, I'm not that into choirs and we are not
Christians (Do not want to start a religious debate, to each their own please). Plus I have a 2 year old and 6 year old who I don't think will find it that entertaining to sit still for.

Then I saw the narrator list and Whoopi Goldberg is there for my dates. I LOVE her! So I have all these ADR's made already and need to decide which ones to keep so I can free up what I don't want for someone else to have.

I have a biergarten lunch ADR for the 5 o'clock CP package. To keep that reservation I will need to cancel BOG dinner for that day, and instead plan to hit MK the next day which quite possibly could be the pain in the butt parade taping day (first sat of December) and would also cause us to skip AK which means we will not get to AK at all during this trip.

We go about every 2 years but this will likely be our only trip during Christmas time. I'd love to see Whoopi in person, but it isn't like I get to meet her or anything, we'll just be seeing her on the stage. I just can't decide if it would be worth it? I've heard the show is awesome but is it awesome with small children and adults who aren't Christians? Is it worth sitting through the show just to see from afar a star I'm a fan of? All opinions welcome!

Basically you are going to hear celerity narrator read what many consider the Christmas story from Bible.Plus some great music and songs. Many young children to seen to get antsy after 15 - 20 minutes. You are the best judge of how your children will react. If you just want to see Whoopi you can stand behind the regular theatre seating and see and hear her for a few minutes. My family has been many times and always enjoyed lt.Our favorite guest narrator so far out 15 CP's is James Earl Jones.

I've booked CP dinner packages for both Whoopi and Neil Patrick Harris, so as you can tell, I'm a huge fan of the show. I'm Unitarian by faith, and whether you consider that Christian or not is up to you. ;) And I adore choir music, and make it a point to see the Voices of Liberty several times every trip.

All of which is to say, if you don't like Christmas carols sung by a live choir, don't care to hear the Christmas Story read aloud, don't think your kids will sit for it, and are worried it'll mess with your plans, don't do it. You won't get that good a view of Whoopie, anyway.

The show is basically 7 or 8 choirs joining together to sing Christmas songs...some popular, but most considered "religious."

She'll be reading passages from the Bible.

Right up front, and based on two out of three factors, I'd say no.

Everyone seems to be agreeing that if I have no interest in the show then it is not worth going to just to see Whoopi Goldberg. Thank you everyone, I appreciate the input!

I'm lucky it's not James Earl Jones or my DH would be dragging me to see him no matter what!

I view this more as a Disney "must" if you are there during that time. The reasoning (at least for us) has nothing to do with religion, but a unique Disney experience and frankly being with a whole bunch of people in a very joyous and festive atmosphere.
Whoopi, NPH or JEJ ...... MAN.... I would certainly pay the little extra bit to be in the front seat.

IMHO, no it's not worth it... CP is an hour in length. It was really hard on my DGD age 5 to sit through it, the trumpets were REALLY loud, and I think DSIL took her out early. I totally love CP, but kids do not. BOG dinner ADRs are almost impossible to get and I really believe you'll regret changing all your plans.

I would say not worth it for you. We went last year for the first time (and our family is religious). We enjoyed it, but it's not a must do for us, more like, once and done.

I enjoyed it, but thought the outragous extra money for it all was not worth it. Also, people are queueing up in the Reservations line really early on, so you won't always get a good spot with that.

Given your beliefs and preferences I'd also vote for it not being worth it for your family. We enjoyed it very much, but putting myself in a similar situation (like sitting through a Nascar race to watch my favorite celebrity read from the Koran from a pretty far away outdoor theater bench), I'd say not worth it.

Thanks everyone! I watched the video on the link and I think I'm definitely going to skip it. I can see my toddler being enthralled by the singing for all of 2 minutes and then we will just be an interruption to the people around us as we leave with our crying 2 year old. Not worth changing my plans for and would be too rude to the guests around us.
